It's me again, standing in for Jim.
Hope everyone is doing well and is able to get a few things accomplished in the next few days.

I am heading off to my daughter and son-in-law's place in San Antonio. I don't know how much I will get done in the modeling department. May get some train chasing in though.

Happy Derby Weekend!!! Hope to get some modeling in, I should be able to.

Saturday: Resume the bridge work that "went awry" last weekend. This weekend I will focus on starting the "EL' section of the bridge. Also plan on doing some decaling. I have a combine that needs decaling. The C&O often ran mail/passenger service up to coal country or to resorts using combines on the back of a small freight. I always like running those.

Late Saturday: Mint Juleps! Will make mint simple syrup and fire up a julep or 2 for the race.

Sunday: Continue on the "EL" and also color some rocks. I put in some cast rubber rocks but am not too happy w/ the color. I may darken them a little bit to the gray side.

Here's a shot of a C&O mailer w/ some freight action. This is a cool train to run on Sunday mornings while piddling in the layout room on other things.

    Happy TGIF to Y'all

As it is Mother's Day weekend - we'll see. As this weekend will be all about our Mom's and Wives (if they are Moms)

So, with that said - I hope to get the next two (and final) colors on my friends NYO&W F3 and NW-2's.
As well as get the decaling started on my H12-44 project.

    Y'all have a fantastic weekend

Good morning from cloudy, cool and rainy Northeast Ohio!

Today, I will continue work on an Intermountain PC&F R70-20 Reefer kit I am building, may also start decaling a 50' RBL and a 2 bay Covered Hopper.

Saturday, will be heading to the club to run trains and have a gab fest, later in the evening will continue on Friday's project.

Sunday, is for laundry and may get some painting done and get another kit or two out to start building. Not doing much for Mother's day this year as next week we will be celebrating my son's 30th birthday and my wife wants to do that instead.

Well it's going to be a couple dreary days along the banks of the Schuylkill so I'll be stuck inside.
Jumping back into modeling I'm going to stick with the KISS principle.
All I have lined up this weekend are many brief periods of respiratory therapy and short walks on the treadmill and coming up with approx 80" x 2" of N scale retaining wall. I'm looking for something quick and low cost.
Since this a portable Christmas layout I'm staying away from plaster.
If I finish the retaining walls I need to work on a base for the upper business district. Probably just thin plywood.
    Thats it for me.

    Good morning all,

Having completed just about all the ballast work I can do for now and am transitioning to other scenery work on the 8 ft long Carlin section. This weekend I plan to build a model of the pedestrian bridge that passes over Carlin yard. Starting point will be a Pola kit that I picked up cheap at a club open house last fall. That will be used for the stairs with the main deck being scratch built to get the length just right.

Everyone have a great weekend whatever you end up doing.

I have track on two of my T-Trak modules. Hoping to move forward and install track on the remaining pair. And then get them wired, etc. Scenery still under consideration. Thinking about a couple of bridges, so some cutting may be needed on one module.

Not directly for modeling, just rearranging the excesses.
    Happy Mothers Day to all.

Hmmm, the weekend is kinda up in da air, as all is dependent on what Mrs Moose wants to do...

Friday: Mrs Moose says its a hobby day because of the rain. Yeah! Sooo, Moose continue working on brewery, hoping to get a roof on at least the kiln.

    Saturday: Moose no know. :cautious:

Sunday: Moose still no know.

Monday: Moose wondering: what did Moose do Saturday & Sunday? o_O

Looks like we are all plodding ahead as best we can. Happy late Cinco de Mayo to all the "Mayo's" out there. ;) I have completed the brake wheel and platform installation. (y) Next is stirrup steps. I am making a stirrup step former that will make groups of four. This will speed up production (and possibly let me take over the world). I am hearing lake fish blinking at me which may prove a distraction. :sneaky: All have a fun and safe weekend. :D

Covid free. I'm going to venture outdoors and try to run a few miles. After 9 days of isolation, I suspect it will be an adventure.

I hope to get in a few hours on the layout. I'll do a little more scenery work, and run some trains. The big 'to do' is to renumber the duplicate cars. I started making car cards of the fleet and discovered I had a few more duplicates than I thought, about 20 in all. I was surprised to see that I had seven PFE mechanical reefers with the number 300171. I have some dry transfer numbers that will work on those. The others are all block or railroad gothic so I'll need to find the appropriate decals. Or maybe I'll just sell them and get some new ones. I haven't shopped for rolling stock in a while.

Maybe *if* the sun don't shine I might get 1/2 of the current 'Grey and Grandure' taken down. Due to family crowding / wants and needs I just don't have the access I need to function. I will pack up 90% of all locos and cars and all but a couple of ovals of track. The track will finally be put in the mail for a certain patient someone.

I will continue on plans for my 'Super Mega Deluxe Ginormous' skyscraper.

Looks like I have company in the "No Solid Modeling Plans" category this weekend. Sunday will be all about Mother's Day. Already on the request line are mimosas, a walk and mushroom risotto. Modeling related, I have a few items on order that are unlikely to arrive by Saturday. Those projects will have to wait till next week. I may go dig around in my storage unit in search of a squirrel cage fan I used with my paint booth prior to 1992. Otherwise, I need to hunt one up. That has proven to be more difficult than first imagined. Should I find myself with idle hands I will start working on the setup to finish a couple sand domes. With a couple soccer matches to watch, it seems unlikely I am going to accomplish any modeling tasks this weekend.

    Stay safe,

Will hopefully make more progress on my raised track. Applied glue to things this afternoon, using anything I could find as a weight. I want to add some additional track power leads, then move on to the curved section beyond the bridge to the right.

Saturday already here in Japan. My kids are playing with friends at our house so I’m volunteering to stay home and supervise. Which will afford me some time to model today. At some point we need to get to the store for flowers.

Sunday of course is Mother’s Day. The kids are capable of making breakfast and want to do that. I believe my role will be cleaning up pancake batter off of all horizontal and verticals surfaces in the kitchen. To include the ceiling.

In between, I think we’ll do some board games as a family, go to a park, or give her peace and quiet to knit (her choice of any/all or anything else she’s interested in ).

Calls to my mom and my wife’s mom will be attempted but the time zone differences sometimes get in the way. The beauty of being a day ahead of the US is that when it is Mother’s Day here, it will only be Saturday for the lower 48, so we can attempt again very late Sunday night or Monday morning our time.

I think we will try for an early dinner at a restaurant she really likes to avoid the holiday crowd. Mothers Day isn’t as big out here, but it is still the last day of the Golden Week holiday period.

Since the weather is gong to be wet and dreary we will be inside this weekend. There are Easter decorations to store, some spring cleaning, and the never ending laundry.

My daughter is taking us out for brunch tomorrow for Mothers' Day. We never go near a restaurant on Mothers' Day.

I am working on assembling an Athearn Blue Box RF&P Wide Vision Caboose. Once that is complete I have two Athearn Blue Box Tropicana reefers and three Con-Cor Tropicana reefers to assemble. There is also a Bachmann Silver Series Tropicana reefer to upgrade and weather. Lastly I have metal wheels to weather for five previously assembled Con-Cor Tropicana reefers. Yes, I am trying to get my Orange Juice Train together.

On the layout I have scenery, ballasting, and wiring.

I have cleaned blueberry smoothie off the ceiling, and it's a 9ft ceiling. Somehow, they made an arc up one wall across the ceiling and down the other. A blender mishap they said.

I've been working on this old Atlas C30-7 in HO. It will hopefully look like the real one did in the mid 1990s. I picked the number because of the mismatched trucks, early exhaust (that matched what the model came with) and a number whose digits add up to 21. The cab and rear truck sideframes are 3D printed and about half the paint is original. Working on windows and handrails and might redo some of the piping to the air tanks. I couldn't find the Details West air tank detail kit when I was gathering up parts for it. It has an ESU LokSound decoder and it sounds just like I remember. [IMG]
