None at all. The original pictures themselves are not bad. It's just that they were scanned on a Xerox office copier as an experiment. It scans documents perfectly, just not good for scanning pictures as I discovered. Someday, I'll get a real photo/slide/negative scanner and some good photo editing software and do these right. Just kind of figured that since I stayed late on my time one afternoon and tried scanning all these that I would just go ahead and share them.

Wow, that's beautiful. Definitely at Bethlehem, PA. Only two LV units received this paint scheme, so that's a pretty rare shot. It moved on to CR's roster and was rebuilt with an EMD 567 prime mover into a DeWitt geep, retired 1984.

Love your SOU shots too.:love::love:

The official credit for the first locomotive to be painted into the Norfolk Southern black and white paint scheme goes to the Roanoke paint shop. However, the Chattanooga paint shop actually completed the first repaint 2 days before Roanoke did. That overlooked very first unit in NS paint was the 2833. Here she is the day she rolled out of the paint shop. (These pics were taken with permission)

Engine number is 7526 but not sure what RR. Shot was taken by Joe Grow. When he gave me this 30 something years ago, he told me where and of course I didn't write it down but seems like he said somewhere in northern PA

That aircraft over the leaning crossing signals caught my eye ... silhouette looks like a C-130 Hercules.

Must have been a low-speed collision or that truck would be a lot more crumpled than that.

Good eye Mike. That is indeed a C-130. The Chattanooga airport is close to that location and that aircraft had probably just performed a touch and go there. It was a pretty common event back then. Many new, refurbished or repaired C-130's would take off from the Lockheed assembly plant in Marietta GA and fly up to Chattanooga and perform a few touch and goes to check out the aircraft before it was delivered.

The collision was for sure low speed and it still did a good bit of damage. That dump truck was fully loaded which probably helped absorb some of the impact as well.

That steam locomotive 7526 certainly has me stumped. With the headlight on the pilot, solid plate metal pilot, semi-circular handrails and round number plate on the smokebox and an air tank atop the boiler, I can't match it with anything.

Is it possibly an articulated? Maybe B&O family?

Based on the possible location, I think Ken may be right about B&O. Joe passed many years ago so no way for me to hear more about where he was when he took the picture.

A couple of years after Santa Fe brought back the red and silver, it was an exciting time. I made a trip to Kansas City and managed to catch a few.
