buckets!! Old cars, new cars, and its visible to see the car rise as the trucks contact the plastic then scoot off the rail. Hogged out the plastic between the keeper and rail, then hogged out between the wing rail but even the height of the plastic it still kicking the trucks. How short, lengthwise, can a guard rail or wing be trimmed and still function? Taking down some of the height is not a problem, needle file made short work of that.

Are your switches actually new production or are they NOS and Chinese?

By "wing" you mean "frog"? Are you running big flange "pizza cutter" wheels?

By "wing rail", I'm sure he's referring to the frog wing rails. Normally, Atlas code 80 switches are tolerant of almost all flange sizes as long as the wheelsets are in gauge. I run everything from early N scale Rapido stuff through early Con-Cor with flanges that have always been smaller than typical and run on code 55, through modern Kato, etc. stuff without problem.

I asked about the actual age of the switches because there were some earlier Chinese examples which had too narrow flange ways at both guard rails and frogs.

Actually, the early Chinese versions are really N scale fine standards and are OK with fine scale wheel sets but not with anything else. The problems at the points is a different issue with the point rails being too crude, resulting in poor gauge in the points area.

Get a NMRA track gauge and check the rail gauge through the switch for both routes. That should be the very first thing to do.

That and check for flatness on the install of the switch and the adjacent track. If you lay a steel ruler on edge on top of the rail there should be no light showing under it anywhere.

Thank you all. It's my #6 2750 & 2751 code 80s that have the step, 2mm maybe, that is the issue. The #8 2756s don't have that issue at all and work fine on all of my stock. The 2706 & 7 have the same issue only on the frog. You can see the plastic ramp on the left edge that exist in all of the plastic of the 2750/1. Thinking I'll find another possible use for these and go with
