Since doing a CNJ MOW layout, came across this beautiful Atlas 41911 CNJ MOW Box Car and it appeared to be a great fit. Bought it on eBay from the Piedmont Railroad Museum & Library and just arrived..

    s-l1600.jpg

Paid a little more but it was for a good cause..

    IMG_2573.jpg

Attempted to google what a "blocking" car or what makes a MOW car any different however unable to find as most hits deal with autos?

Any insight or info is appreciated...

a quick note - if you're going to spray that stuff on styrene sheet, it does not like to stick without a prime coat first. I tried to use that on a scratch building, it came off with the slightest flex.

Well I just won on Ebay 3 worn and beat up cabooses for $6. They are for parts, namely the cupolas. I have 3 Peco 2 axle brake van kits coming that are going to be fitted with the cupolas for the Turtle Creek.

Da Mooses visited an independent arts and crafts store today that is unfortunately going out of business ... Picked up a couple of sheets of foam boards at 30% off regular price.

Picked up a few items at the train show today.

I have been mulling over an idea for diaphragms so these may come in handy. Also been messing with interior seating so ditto. The 47 Empire Builder is on my list and the magazine was free so why not?

    Stay safe,

Got these at the Rocky Mountain TCA show yesterday at the Stockshow complex in Denver.
Pretty much the ENTIRE building was PACKED with trains! Vendors, manufacturers and layouts.
Usually the biggest show west of the Mississippi, so I've seen, or they claim!

Would NOT have made it, if I didn't have wheelchair with me! Was no way I was gonna walk the entire thing and survivew!
Would have gone back today, but yesterday wiped me out!

Looks like a new soldering station is in order to "enhance" performance. These sideways photos just bug.

Just received another of the Micro-Trains DODX flat car sets. The red seems a little bright compared to prototype photos some some weathering will be happening to tone it down. Set comes with 3 Abrams tanks, 1 for each flat car.

Last piece, from TCA show Saturday.
Rio Grande sports style bag. Perfect for
a short, weekend get away. Big and
roomy, with a few smaller pockets on one
end. Could have gotten solid black instead, but I liked this one!
Might be good for hauling N Scale stuff for train shows.
Instead of multiple boxes of stuff.

It's probably supposed to be a sand color, like the regular tan or buff color the tanks are painted in. I'm not sure what the official name or code for that color is though.

No reflection on you at all, but the problem with that set is that you cannot load tanks on those cars. Not in the real world. They can’t handle the weight of tanks.

The color is probably supposed to be CARC Sand. CARC is Chemical Agent Resistant Coating.

I’ve been buying a lot of decoders to finally get all of my engines converted to DCC.

These 41000 series are rated for 100 tons and can handle a single M1 or a pair of M2's or other smaller armor. They have the wider deck like the 40000 series but with a lower weight rating. I did find this one photo of an M1 on 41025 but I suspect in practice they are mostly used for the smaller armor or non-armored vehicles.

They are undec kits and after assembly and painting with a desert sand color and a bit of weathering will look more like this.

    Sorry, Brad.

    I am obviously mistaken.

I just know they would never let us load tanks on them. They used them for lighter vehicles.

These are US. In 2014 when I had my tank company at Ft. Riley, KS. all our Abrams were desert tan. I have this set and others from MTL and models are tan in real life. My tanks in Korea in 2007 were green/woodland camo pattern.

Yes-I did railloading of our tanks and other vehicles a couple of times. We really only used these for wheeled vehicles. I’ve got a few other sets and will swap humvees out to ride on these and put the tanks on t he heavier versions.
