You have all seen "my version" of this: I, several weeks ago now, decided to do a caterpillar diesel and posted the following somewhere on this forum: I should have it completed this weekend. so here is a teaser; Now I need to get the non sound decoder installed so I can wrap this up. These are both KATO SD-90/43's. Thanks for looking and as always, be safe !
I LOVE the oddball or different stuff. Just finished a Penn Central DL109. I must say, your "paint palace" seems to be scenicked for the desert !!! Am I the only one that sees this ???
R8R, you are correct. That test/program track was just sitting on pink extruded foam. BORING ! ! So I set it up as a desert scene to show off new equipment. Since the above shot was made I have changed the looks a bit. Hemi, yes sir that is the one I started to duplicate but it seemed rather tame so I have added decals to make "my version". I am sure everyone knows the Progress Rail story and EMD Locomotives !
Not finished as yet. I just today completed the decoder install as the Zimo silent came out of another diesel a couple of years ago and I have been concerned about it's viability. All is done, except lights and the thing runs "like a KATO". Should finish it up next day or so. Here is another teaser: Be well ! !
I'm a bit surprised Kato or another manufacturer hasn't released a T4. It wouldn't require a totally new set of production tooling. Regardless of how successful they are in full size it doesn't mean models railroaders won't buy them in N or HO. At this point it looks like a FLX battery loco will come before a T4 if they are picked up by the Class 1's. ................. Yikes , I just thought , an FLX loco may not need a DCC sound system. They're probably the correct noise out of the box !
I grew up in South Milwaukee, WI - the current home of a CAT mfg site. It pretty much sustains the town. Saw lots of trains pulling in behind it as a kid b/c my cousins lived right behind the factory. Like the Rail Beast.
