Years ago, when my dad was developing his dream HO layout, he wanted a small narrow gauge component at one end. I started accumulating a few things to run on it. I found this old Westside K-27 for sale on consignment at a local hobby shop. It had been decorated for some fictitious home road and had a burned out motor. I put a new motor in it and removed all the old decals, replacing them with something more prototype. Fifteen K-27s were delivered to the Rio Grande in 1903 by Baldwin as Vauclain Compound locomotives. They were all converted to simple, single expansion design with slide valves a few years later. The 450 had a few other changes before it was scrapped a little before WWII but it never was upgraded to piston valves and super heating like most of its class.
Good morning from cloudy and cool Northeast Ohio! Temps will be in the 40 today with rain likely to melt some of the 2+ ft of snow on the ground. Well, I got a some cars finished this week! First up, the 12th Completed Canadian Wheat Board NSC 4550CF Covered Hopper, added a Plano Roofwalk and Walkover walkways then painted with Scalecoat II mixture of Reefer Yellow and Boxcar Red along with a Black Underframe, then lettered with Herald King Decals. These were purchased by the Government due to the Crows Nest agreement which grandfathered wheat rates at the early 1900 rates which made it unprofitable for the railroads to supply new equipment. Next another IMRC kit, the PC&F R70-20 Mechincal Refridgerator Car, Painted with Scalecoat II Daylight Orange, White and Black Paints, then lettered with Champ Decals. Used to transport California produce to the Midwest and East Coast via the SP and UP to the eastern railroads. A teaser for next week, Rapido RS-11's as replacements for the RS-3's hauling a coal drag at the Strongsville Club layout. Thanks for lookiing! Rick Jesionowski
A bunch of locomotives Even another Kato CSX ES44DC in the background by the hedges! And the Intermountain FT A&B unit's, and the two Atlas U25B'S on the far right!
Here is one I found that I don't think I posted before. Lehigh & Hudson River C420 passing Penn Central RS11 at the Water Tower. Both locos by Atlas.
An auto rack passes Wilson Tower on the high line at the Sebring (Ohio) Model Railroad Club And later, a string of tank cars further along on the same route descends the high line grade into Pinkerton yard. Sent from my SM-A716U using Tapatalk
