I once again did not make it to the Amherst Railroad Show in Springfield, MA, but I'm starting this thread in case anyone who is there would like to provide updates. So far, Micro-Trains posted a few photos of its display. There is an early sample of their PS-2 two bay covered hopper and an announcement of a "Rum Runner Train Set" (Special Edition). Feel free to chime in...
I am very happy to see the ESU announcements of two new decoders for N scale: finally a LokSound 5 replacement for the old 73100 pre-2016 Atlas and IM locos; and a new drop in for Kato wide bodies (E/F units, PAs, etc)
I didn't go either. I was all set with hotel reservation, car packed, etc. but canceled on Friday morning due to the forecasted 8-12" of snow. They do have a live stream of 3 of the bigger buildings; BLC, Mallory and Young. Camera feeds courtesy of Virtual Rail Fan. Today's attendance from the feeds were horrible. There were also empty vendor tables.
MK, Thanks for posting this feed. We did not go as well. We were debating, then we both got Covid two weeks ago. Doing much better now. SO between that and the weather, we decided to "stay put". As for attendance, your description sums it up pretty well.... Next year!
Made it to the show on Sunday after digging out of 18 inches of snow. There were some great modular layouts and plenty of dealers, not as good as in years past I might say. I did ask the Bachmann rep about retooling the EM 1 into an AC 9, he said he would take that back to the home office....fingers crossed. I picked up a new Kato GS4 post-war black and an Alco S-4 in tiger stripe.
Over "on another network" someone reported getting some great stuff which he will be happy to be auctioning off live on Sunday afternoon... Cue theme to the TV show "Flipper" ...
