So, I like Joe's weathering better, and tried to tone mine down a bit. This is what I came up with:

Eric, 1st: chalks don’t adhere well to factory direct. DullCote (or a good cleaning, I haven’t don’t that)
2nd/ after all your chalk(s): DullCote to seal them from rubbing off (and your adsorbent oily fingers).
Note: light chalks will disappear when DullCote’d or washed.
3rd: so to make the light stuff, wash with alcohol and when it dries, it hazes. ;) I brush from the top down, wider brush. Then dip a smaller one (alcohol on the brush first, then in a separate little cup of the lighter chalks to get highlight streaks.

    Joes way works good too.

I like the subtle look by the dome like it has spilled some contents down the sides. It gives me some thoughts….what did you use for that wet look?

I dabbed on some clear gloss to simulate spillage.

Thanks now I’m gonna have tinker some. I like that spilled look. Gonna have to get a few more cars too!

I guess I am just way out of practice, because I just can't get the look I am after. Anyways, I did one of my Warren tankers today:

The Warren tanker looks good, just some subtle weathering.

The thing that gets me about these, are the wheels from AZL prototypicaly that big in diameter?
They look pretty big, wonder if some Fox Models wheel sets would help?

The wheels actually measure 4.4mm not including the flanges. That's a scale 38" wheel or 47" if you include the flange.

Just got mine in the mail, they do look pretty normal in person.
