Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend, er, make that the year! We have all done it once again and made it through a year. While 2021 was certainly not the best year in recent history, I think we still have a lot to be thankful for. So, with that said, let's do what we always do this time of year and tell us what your plans are followed by your New Year's Modeling Resolution. It doesn't have to be long and detailed, just let us know in a sentence or two, your overall modeling goals for 2022. Let's get started.

Friday: It is supposed to be a high of 56 degrees and I can think of no better day to take down and put away the outdoor Christmas lights and display. I'm sure this will take the better part of a day. Any time left will be used to turn our attention to the inside and organizing.

NEW YEAR'S DAY: Not much planned. Any other packing and removal of Christmas items and cleaning will likely take place. I am spending a bit of time researching Maine Central as I'm seriously considering moving on from the City Job. Part of me thinks that ship has sailed and it's time to move on. Saturday night, I'm bringing in the New Year by taking my sweetheart to our favorite steakhouse. It's a favorite because it opened in 1960, and virtually nothing has changed and since I like the old way of things, this is our go to "night on the town." We really don't eat out much, especially since the pandemic and because the same generic corporate restaurants don't do much for us in terms of food quality and atmosphere.

Sunday: The clean-up and organize day. There will be a lot of this as it is our annual tradition. We expect a lot of changes in 2022, one of which is a move, so we are preparing and downsizing now. I will spend any free time studying maps, books and images on the Maine Central as well as upgrade a few N scale cars in my collection and generally enjoy my last day off until sometime in April.

NEW YEAR'S MODELING RESOLUTION: The first thing will be to finish all projects that have been hanging on and in essence, holding me back. I hope by January I will have three completed modules ready for track. I'll be doing a lot of soul searching and trying to determine if this will be the City Job 2.0 or something else. Am I doing the City Job 2.0 for me or for spite? Bitterness can hold a person back so after all this soul searching, I may go ahead with the information I have and plunge head long into the newer City Job in N, or something entirely different and maybe in another scale entirely!

So how about you? What is your weekend looking like? What about your 2022 New Year's Modeling Resolution? Let us know. We'll assemble again, next year on Monday, January 3rd, 2022. Until then, have a safe remainder of 2021, stay healthy, have fun and above all...

    High Greens!
    Into a
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My plan for this weekend is to plant trees above and below the rock cut. Once the trees are planted, I’ll go ahead and get two more pieces of the upper level benchwork built and in place.

I’m not sure how long it will take to plant a few hundred trees, but if I can get the benchwork done, then I can focus on the lower level lighting.

    Happy New Year to Y'all!!

I will be finishing up my SP F unit project. I have an example of every class the SP had. (Not including the Cotton Belt and T&NO - that is next)
I have a few details and window glass to install on the final classes DF-11 A-B-B-A and the B units for the FP7's --

A family photo will be taken and submitted to Y'all.

Y'all have a spectacular and fun filled weekend - stay safe!!

Moose hopes to paint and assemble twenty (or more?) disconnect logging car trucks for the Johnston & Kerr timber removal company. And just to make things take that much longer, Moose hopes to make at least a few custom logs to go on them, hooves crossed!
    :)

Now, what Mrs Moose expects Mr Moose to do might be completely different...

Everything is up in the air for this New Years weekend. I found some craft paints for one of my projects and hope to get to that over the weekend. However, the wife keep floating ideas to do. So far I have successfully dodged most but she's not giving up so who knows if I will have any free time at all.

Here's wishing you all a Happy and Safe New Year's Eve and a Happy New Year!

With a three day weekend and no bowling tonight, I hope to get a first coat of paint onto an Athearn Ribbed side NACC RBL this weekend along with finishing up and painting the first color on another Tangent 86' High Cube.

I also pulled out another Intermountain NSC 4550CF Covered Hopper kit and may start building that this weekend. I am still contemplating out to change out the trucks on a Kato GP35 to the AAR type B trucks that the Annie used on their GP35's.

    Have a great weekend!

    Good morning all,

With the turnouts worked on last weekend completed, I have started to lay the track for the siding in Carlin yard. So this weekend I hope to complete the siding with it's industry turnouts and perhaps then move on to the controls and wiring for these last turnouts.

    Happy New Year from Tokyo!

Friday was a day off so I finished installing passengers, decoders, and lights in my last 10 Kato Metra coaches. I still have 4x WoT in the RTA scheme to finish and 6x Concor Metra Budds. In the late afternoon and evening it was family movie night & New Year’s Eve at home with the kids. Watched a Disney movie and played board games, paused

Saturday-take down Christmas decorations. Finish as many of the WoT coaches as I can before I run out of passengers. When I run out, start weathering a few WC and NS covered hoppers.

Sunday-do some research about getting an airbrush and/or run out and get some painting supplies-running low on rust and my white wash.

Happy New Year to all of our good posters and lurkers.

Plans for the long weekend are sprucing up scenery and track ballast around Albemarle City. Areas that are mostly scenicked but still need some detail attention.

However, tonight will be a sip (or 2) of Makers Mark and our annual New Years Eve boiled lobster. Have a great weekend all!

No big plans for New Years in these parts. We will bring the New Year as we have done for many years now which will be my wife, daughter, son, and myself watching the ball drop and then making some noise. New Years Day will be our traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner. Would have watched the Philadelphia Mummers Day Parade especially the string bands and fancies, however due to weather the parade will be on Sunday. The Fancy Brigades will still be Saturday since they are indoors. The Fancy Brigade competition is a cross between Mardi Gras and Broadway.

I have been working on adding the Northern Light & Power plant to the layout so I may do some tweaking of the siding for it. I also plan to continue inventorying my kits and unweathered rolling stock. For a change of pace I may work on tuning up some freight cars.

    Jim,

As far as I am concerned, you should feel free to persue any modeling project that inspires you including the City Job. It is, after all, your original concept. I decided to go solo with my portion of the 1.0 version. This should not stop you. If anything, make it even better in the 2.0 future. I doubt any such effort would be done in a spiteful manner. That's not the true you. This location continues to inspire you and you based at least one painting project and your rolling stock collection on it. I recall some nice scratchbuilt structures too. In any case, there is no I'll feelings here. As I say, take the concept and make it even better.

Mind you, starting on a new project can be very refreshing too. You are from New England and I think your heart resides there. I suppose then, it's your destiny to model it in some form.

Heck Jim, model them both! I have little doubt you'll do anything but a great job with both concepts, or whatever you decide.

Be happy and model on my friend. Life is too short not enjoy our hobbies.

I added the second base to form an L and run some longer trains. Main goal is to do whatever adjustments need to be done to make it run smoothly and figure out exactly what I want on the second base and the track layout. This base will not always be used, so I have to think about storing in the attic which is really close to me. Therefore I also have to think about building's and scenery that might have to be removed. I can just barely pick it up myself and it will have to go Vertical at some point when moving for storage, so I have to consider this too.

Main thing is in the near future, wire it for DCC drops with another terminal board, connect the 2 terminal boards together when in use, as well as also connecting any Remote Switches on the second base to the terminal box on the first base for AC? Attach the 2'x4' piece of cork, attach the 2" foam, and also add the roadbed to track and attach all with nails. Lot's of work to do, and will get to it, at my leisure when I feel like it.

If this weekend I can get the basics done including the roadbed down it will be a major accomplishment. But that's my goal. Wiring and such later!

I am not feeling very well this weekend. So we will see what happens

    New Years resolution:

Get the layout operational for ops. This will entail installing 24 tortoise motors. Making some more waybills and changing others. Building cars. On the module front finish repairing and upkeep for a show in February.
