My long awaited Scale Trains dot com N gauge auto racks showed up today. Grabbed a few quick photo snaps to show here. These cars are really nice. Over the weekend will try to get better pics to show off the details. Cliff
The Scale Trains autoracks are really nice; I wish they would have used etched metal sides (that you can see through) like the old Red Caboose and the upcoming Intermountain units. I have a few of the older Red Caboose units and absolutely love them. Scale Trains makes some beautiful models and in my opinion, fell down on this one with the plastic sides.
Here you go. First pic is the tabs cut from the strips and the second is them applied to the frame at the bolster area. Can't go too wide on cutting the shims or they will interfere with the rotation of the truck.
New tram arrived today. It also is too fast for my tram layout. I need to make a variable speed mode for the layout as I now have 2 trams that won’t work on it. But anyway. Here ya go.
Yeah I have the same question? Is this it's own thing? I know nothing about Trams, so DC or DCC, and whatever else you can tell us about Trams? Any information is appreciated.
Ok, so my tram layout is just a loop of track going through a city scene. I built it as an office decoration when I had an office to work in. The tram goes around and around making 2 stops. I’m of course not yet finished with the layout (are we ever) but it operates. I have an IR sensor module controlling the stops, and a L298N motor driver provides the DC power to the rails. As I was developing the software for the layout, I was only ever planning on running the Kato Unitrams on it. But I have since found a couple other trams I want to use so now I need to modify my setup. The L298N can adjust its speed via a PWM signal from the Arduino and I just have that signal hard coded right now. To change the speed I need to add an analog input from a variable resistor, then have that converted to a digital number from 0 to 255 and then that variable will be sent to the motor driver for throttle control.
The two Kato P42’s I ordered last June that were supposed to be here in September finally arrived. These are the last two N scale locos I will be purchasing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I had an issue with a seller on eBay not wanting to follow the e-bay shipping guidelines, and not listing his desired changes in his listing. I called him on it and sent him a copy of the guidelines for his review. Well the package was in the mail later that same day, and it showed up here 3 days later. I finally got a TGV Thalys! This is the PBA route which uses the first generation equipment and with the new paint scheme that SNCF released in 2016. This is a new offering from Kato and it is much improved over the previous releases. First off the coupler between the loco and car 1 on both ends uses the double pyramid type coupler just like the real train uses (can’t remember the official name for this type of coupler) and the rest of the cars are the same as the later versions of the TGV with the flat coupler. The locomotive has a DCC Friendly light board that uses the NEM 6 pin plug. On older TGV trains like the Lyria, first generation Thalys PBKA, And the Duplex you needed to swap out the light board for a decoder or for a DCC friendly light board. Well this new train has the DCC friendly board already installed in the trailing car so it can easily accept a decoder for light control. here is the pics in the box, I will try to get some on rails this weekend.
Ebay recommends a 3 day processing time. And actually will not side with the buyer for any complaint that is about the first 72 hours. This seller said he doesn’t even process or ship until after 5 days. Which should be stated in the listing. And I have no issue with it when stated. When I did sell things on eBay I got forced to refund the shipping charges because I had not sent shipping information after 3 days. I let the buyer know that I would be unable to get his order in the mail for a couple days due to illness. He put in a claim and eBay held my money (back when eBay and PayPal were one company) I couldn’t even get the money transferred to my account to cover the shipping. eBay didn’t care that my son and I had been vomiting and what not for the last 3 days… I was told I had 3 days and they would be refunding him the shipping. This was right about the time I stopped selling anything on eBay. I’m not sure how strict they are about this today, but I let the seller know anyway. It all worked out in the end, the seller did a good job getting me my package and a good review was left. Lately when I have ordered from overseas it seems that after 5 to 7 days will pass and orders will not be shipped unless you say something.
