When Kato first came out with the CB&Q Budd cars, Charlie Vlk pointed out that all the cars required to put together the Sam Houston Zephyr were included. The only problem was that the E5 was only rarely available in brass. So I was able to kit bash a Life Like E-6 to resemble one to complete my SHZ pocket streamliner. I have since retired it and replaced it with the Kato E5. Here is the old Life Like kit bash.

This is my 'Silver Streak'. With the silver of the Diet Coke locomotives, to the Athearn boat-tailed observation. It's a fun little train for the season.
Looking for a way to add a coupler on the rear of the observation....

Wanna come play in my sandbox?

    IMGP14189.JPG

The "sand" is from an unusual source - ash left from burnt incense sticks. That's the way my brain works - I see something, and my mind races "what can I do with this?" The answer was soon coming - this is about as close to 1:87 sand as one can get.:)

I cobbled together the ramp from parts of different kits. I know it's a little steep, but let's say it's the magic of Christmas...;)

    It's also Rule #1.:D

Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Line local rolls into Lieperville Union Station behind a PRR 4-6-2 Pacific (IHC Premier Gold) as the Ridge Liner pulled by PRR E8/9A (Proto 2000) slows to a stop.

No run by this weekend. You can see in the photo one track is ballasted. Well I am ballasting the other. The glue mixture is drying as I am typing this.

Well. I got the Athearn 1946, 75th anniversary locomotive CITY OF COMPTON, in the mail on Friday. I have the 1947 on the way....
Thought you might look like to see what it looks like right out of the box.
