Just picked these up front 2 are broadway limited 3rd is one of my old Kato not sure about the coupler heights but they look ok will try speed matching after I pick up my third unit later today
It looks like on their low nose units they use applied grabs on the nose but molded on the rear? Also why are the cab windows painted red on the high nose unit or is that an optical illusion? They look like pretty decent locos though. How do they run after getting the shaft issue sorted?
I guess these count for posting in here. My least favorite body style of the diesels but Rapido did such a nice job I had to snag a few. Even the undercarriage is nicely detailed. The roof mounted mars light is operational although I had to set that animation in the decoder since it came from the factory set as solid on. Class lights illuminate and even has an operational rear light. With the traction wheels (offset between the front and rear truck) these 4 axles pull better than most of my 6 axle locos. I'm Hoping to get my hands on the CP pac-man version at some point but these will do for now.
hey Freddy yea im kinda wondering about the grabs also. the high hoods windows cp painted red to make them a b unit .so far they run ok still need breaking in will try speed matching later this week got the covid booster and feeling like poop. love your Rapido's i want to get the packman's also . ive been getting the broadways for my son and his cousins the seem to help keep their interest plus im starting to like them .sadly they seem to be just a little off scale but not to bad ill post more after breaking in more
Sorry to read about your issues with the covid vax. Feel better soon! That makes sense about the B unit. Figured that would have been why the windows were painted. BLI has been good to me for the most part. I started with an SP Alco PA/PB set back when paragon 2 was state of the art. Got several more of that vintage (E8 and Baldwin centipede) and they all are very well done and nice running trains. They all were the only F style bodies that had applied grabs and PE grilles so detail-wise they were the best at the time. I recently picked up a paragon 3 ES44AC and that has been a bit of a disappointment though with poor low speed performance. Initially I thought there was an issue with one of the trucks binding but no discernable improvement after getting that sorted. No love from reprogramming the decoder either although I cleaned it up a bit. One of these days I'm going to drop in an ESU decoder to see if that fixes the low speed lurching. I was considering getting a high hood SD40. If the grabs were applied I'd be a bit more motivated but alas... lol. If it's a good runner/sound I could be convinced to add them myself though.
The Rapido CP F9A pac-man livery (DCC-sound) are showing up at certain retailers. If sales of the other units is any indication I don't expect these to be around very long.
I think this batch was the ones in the container that was stolen a few weeks back. If I'm correct they almost didn't make it at all.
