    Hi folks,

I purchased a beautiful Marklin f7 ABA locomotive which was delivered with the permanent drawbar(s) disconnected from the B unit, see picture.

I have sent a note to the seller and am sure will be able to sent it back but wonder if I could fix this myself instead. Does anyone have any experience on how to accomplish the fix?

    Thanks in advance,
    -Tiest

That is strange. Maybe the previous owner was having issues with tight radii and disconnected them. I'm sure the other end/truck is available from Marklin. Jim

Do all of the locos run?
If they do then the easiest way to re-install the permanent drawbars is to remove the trucks. I would suggest doing one drawbar at a time. Remove the shells (bodies) by gentle prying the sides away from the chassis until it lifts off. Be careful not to break the wires between the units. There will be a pin that goes through the truck to hold it to the chassis. Push the pin through the chassis and truck until it comes out. Pull the truck away from the chassis. There will be a gear that was held in by the pin. Put that gear in a safe place. Do this for the rear truck on the A unit and the front truck on the B unit. The plastic cover of the truck is held on by small plastic fingers around the coupler pocket and another finger at the other end. Gently pry open the fingers on the coupler end and lift the plastic piece. You can install the permanent drawbar once you get the plastic cover open enough to slip it in. Hook it over the plastic pin in the coupler pocket and snap the plastic truck cover back in place. Put the gears back in the trucks. Re-install the trucks by inserting the pins through the chassis and the gear to the other side. Do the same thing to the rear truck of the B unit and the rear truck of the last A unit. Snap the shells (bodies) back in place and you're ready to roll. Be sure to put the trucks back in the location they came from.

After speaking with the service department at ACJKIDS, they apologized and created a video for me outlining how to repair the permanent drawbars on the F7 locomotive. It’s pretty much exactly how Thom Welsch (@rvn2001) described above - THANK YOU! I was able to follow these instructions and successfully connected the ABA units together and have the l locomotive running like a charm. Hope this video can help others in the future. Thanks! -Tiest

I'm glad I could help. It's always good to have your locos running.
