Hello... Michael here. I had an extensive HO layout in the 1970s. Took up 2 ping-pong tables. Lots of fun. But, now I live in a tiny apartment and am looking for a new hobby. ... and in walks Z Scale. Yes, they are a bit hard to work with and are kind of pricey. But I can have an entire layout with 3 loops, town, mountains, ricer, people, vehicles... all in a 20x30 inch layout.... you get the idea. I am really having fun putting this together, but am making a lot of mistakes. Hopefully, I can bounce my questions off of y'all..... save me time and money. After all, 30 heads are better than one. Except when knitting a sweater. Thanks for accepting me onto the board and I look forward to reading about your experiences... especially in Z Gauge. ~Michael
Welcome aboard! I’m working an Nn3 layout which uses Z scale track. Very tiny and tough to put locos and rolling stock on the track for sure!
Hi Michael, Welcome. Glad to have you aboard. Please share photos, OK, microscope images as you progress with your 1:220 Z creation.
It's basically old time steam era N-gauge trains running on Z-gauge trackage, so its like narrow gauge trains.
Here’s my Nn3 locos and tank car sitting next to a couple of N scale standard gauge boxcars for comparison. You can also see the Z scale track compared to the N scale track next to it.
