I'll take the liberty to get this weeks' thread rolling. BNSF OCS sits in the old GN yard in Minot, ND at sunrise: Amtrak 7 is early into the Magic City, and passes Gavin Yard and the intermodal facility just west of it: Built in 1956 as part of the principal classification yard on the GN system, Gavin Yard Tower is in the process of demolition.
Love that old truck setting in the weeds. Here are a few from a few years ago in Alaska. The Denali Star above the Nenana River south west of Fairbanks. Coach on the Hurricane Turn train that runs from Talkeetna to the Hurricane Gulch bridge and back.
Maintenance in the Way had stopped this grain empty descending Marias Pass on 31 August. After the welders cleared up, the train proceeded East through Glacier Park station
Bed time! Inside view of Intercolonial Railway 531, wood colonist sleeper built in December 1910 by Silliker of Halifax, NS. This view is from one of the vestibules. The sections have their nighttime partitions set up but the upper berths haven't been dropped down from their daytime positions yet. Exporail, June 21st 2008.
Looks like someone has a mini-Christmas tree farm, behind that old semi. Which BTW needs to be rescued and restored. So sad to see that yard tower go away. It has me wondering how many might be preserved? I believe the CGW tower in Oelwein, Iowa still stands, saved. Otherwise?
Thanks Hemi, I'll make up for not starting it by giving you a fresh, if bad picture. East bound zephyr rolls into Colfax railroad days. I was looking at the car show so didn't have a great spot
