Well, my good friend, 'RailBox here on TB,' passed away on 31 July in his own bed, as he wanted. He has struggled with myaloma for a few years and the septic issue earlier this year took a lot out of him. It is a grief, but a relief also as he was in so much pain. At least he made peace with his Maker before leaving. And I am glad we went to see the Big Boy in 19 and had other fun here n there.

So, I am able to make a bit more time for trains now as I put my head back around my business and kids and life. Made time last night to assemble the T1 and give it a trial run. Still just spotty running, a bit better with the sound 'off'. All the pickups have been cleaned and set correctly, track is clean, the Yellowstone and a Mike ran the same piece of track with no issues. In fact, all of my Econami and Tsu2 decoders give me this issue anymore. Well, except for the GN 4-8-4, which is wired to it's train and has a LOT of pickup wheels available. Unless I get a good solution from my question about Tsunami2 / Soundtrax posted under DCC threads, that decoder and all of their decoders are history. They just seem more problematic because I am using the NCE system to run my layout. No troubles with the Loksound or NCE (non-sound) decoders. All of the 'used' decoders and one new Econami will end up for sale here if I go that route!

Thanks guys. He has been a good friend for quite a few years and we swapped a lot of good stories, none exaggerated! ;) He lived a very full life and I was privileged to be part of it for a time. We are having a memorial cruise next Sat when his two kids and friends can get together and swap 'true' stories! Remembering the good times is the key for us all. And being prepared to meet our Maker after that.

I am sorry for you loss. It seems like we all lost even though I did not know him. It seems like he is in a better place than we are.

Sorry to hear of your loss of a good friend. My father died of multiple myeloma back in 1995 and it's not easy to see someone you care for, have to suffer. May he truly rest in peace.

Tonight we have a memorial auto/motorcycle 'cruise' for my good friend, Rick. Then tomorrow morning I will be heading out for the 1880 train and a week or more of 'decompression' after the last several years of stress tending to him and business and life. It should be a good trip! So this morning, I went out and just ran a train or two, cause I had the time!

First off the Yellowstone pulling a longish freight across open range,

Then the 501 starting a fast fruit out of Ekalaka yard,

And dragging it up Rattlesnake Canyon,

I will see if there is time to put up video's while away, if not, then there will be a few pics and videos when I get back!

You mentioned a memorial ride. Would that be with Patriot Guard Riders?

No, just local friends of his and some family. He was instrumental in many things here for a lot of years in the biker and hot rod community.

Yes, really! This is such an awesome bit of creation to walk around. We saw 4 climbers actively scaling this thing too! PIC_0690.JPG

And we walked the trail entirely, all 1.5 miles of it. This is near the beginning.

Today, off to Lead and Deadwood. Then later this week, the 1880 train at Hill City!
