Came today from sbs4dcc.com ESU LokSound 5 micro dcc direct #58721 and sbs such as Zimo sugar cube speaker with baffles I'm actually busy building our new house, but time for model railroading must be.
I ordered a voltage reducer so I can run trains on 48 volts DC. As well as lights, tools and communication.
Ordered some N-scale power and rolling stock: 2 Kato C30-7 locomotives in SF Kodachrome livery (post de-merger), with ESU LokPilot decoders & MT SS couplers installed (I got lazy...) 1 MT 56' general service tank car - South Dakota Soybean 1 Broadway Limited 2-pk, Cryogenic Tank Car, Canadian Liquid Air Co.
I'm not sure where to post this tip, so I'll put it here with thought that it might avoid a purchase. Clean and save your old glue bottle tips or continue to use an old one in place of a new one. If one ever falls apart or gets hopelessly clogged, you'll have a new one to fit in place and you'll save buying a new bottle of glue. This stuff is $8/Bottle.
Some recent intermodal releases from JTC and and now some DCC installs (2 sound - 1 DCC only) to convert some of the last of my locos.
And if you buy a shop vacuum, always buy one with a face. (Image from a British TV automotive program my wife and I enjoy)
So I’ve been buying quite a bit of stuff over the last few months- a bunch of stuff arrived in the mail from eBay and one of my favorite hobby shops in Illinois. Today’s haul included some new covered hoppers and well-loved boxcars to add variety to my rolling stock fleet. And I’m very excited about the arrival of some of my Army rolling stock. Almost 10 years ago I took command of a tank company and we used rail a couple of times. My goal is to build enough flats and tanks to represent my old company, with some other equipment to fill out a consist. Also got a bunch of Army boxcars-FVM, Atlas, Aztec, and MTL. Are you an 11 ACR or 1st Cav veteran? I spent the last four years in 1st Cav. We still had M113s on the books when I left 1st ID in 2014. 1st Cav still had some when I left last year. My 1SG had one and my medics had the other. The diesels in those things were great. I’ve seen a couple variants 3D printed on eBay, so I’ll get a couple sometime soon and throw them on a flat too. I’ll actually need a couple C-130s myself. I’m in Japan living on an AF base, so when I’ve got more space I’m going to build a second, small layout to model the local area. I’ve already got a CV-22 In 1:150 and I discovered Skymarks makes a diecast 1:150 C-130J model. Maybe I’ll model a bit of the flight line, have a couple aircraft parked and a couple over the layout on some strings burning holes in the sky. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
At first I was with two unknown units. Fire direction control for 155mms on the DMZ and Fire Bass Brick. Then I got leadership of a mortor platoon with 105th Airmobile, 101st Airborne doing out perimeter guard at Camron Bay Air and Naval Base. Isn't the C-130J an assault craft? We used CM-130 model and they brought in the new Ranger coppers and Loches. We could have used Wart Hogs. I was drafted in '70 and only served 1 1/2 years with no reserves afterwards. No trains were I was. None operational anyway. Huey had some remains.
C-130J are lift and the AC-130J is the latest variant of the attack aircraft. Got to see the latter in action on my last deployment-just glad it was on my side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Like the trains they came and still do come for many different functions. Just wish I could find the ones I want. For the price I wish. Fat chance.
Shortround I got one of these M106 models from PnP Trains. He also has M113 and quite a few more modern vehicles. They are 3D printed and quite nice for less than $10.00. PnP Trains - M106 motar carrier APC by nscalestation posted Feb 25, 2021 at 9:20 PM
That's a mortar carrier. Our two 81MMs were carried to the mountain tops by chopper. We did have a few regulars. But how would I get one or others I may want for that price? And of course there personnel. I don't wish to get too new. More from my younger years. '70s -'80s.
I started looking around last night after this conversation started going-Looks like shape ways has a bunch different variants by at least 3 different people in n scale. Price varies, but I saw an M113 ambulance variant that might serve my purposes for under $12 in n scale. Didn’t think about it until now, but I might know a guy who can 3D print some for cheap over eBay. For $10 per 2 vehicles I’ve bought very detailed 3D printed Rams, Rangers, Jeep Cherokees, and Wrangler (topped and topless) from a guy on eBay. Ended up talking to him and he asked for ideas about other stuff to print. I’m going to reach out to him tonight and see if he’s interested. I’ll let you know how it goes. But the guy did good work-details are great. Please excuse my poor painting skills on my examples. Hoping the guy wants to do this. The trucks, Cherokees, and topped wranglers were clear resin-I screwed up while painting so I had to cover them up with black paint. The topless wranglers were filament. The guy is interested-going to help him find some drawings or something so he can look at the dimensions and scale it down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
