Welcome back to that gateway to the weekend! I hope based on the accomplishments you all posted on Monday, you are ready for another great weekend. Let's get started.

Saturday: No trains today, we start the 20 hour trip back to the heartland and start the next chapter of our lives. Hopefully this is one of the last drives out of the state as I'm ready to hang my hat in NH.

Sunday: After getting some rest, I hope to sand down and stain the Athearn display and maybe get some track laid. We'll see how tired I am and how bad the lawn is.

So how about you? What is your list of projects? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 19th to see how we have all done. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

    Good morning from Northeast Ohio!

Hope to get a 57' Mechanical Reefer and a Two Bay Hopper car painted today then start on assembling a 40' Branchline boxcar kit.

Saturday, will be going to the club to run some trains, then start packing for our trip to California for the grandchild's first birthday. If I have some time I will start decaling the painted cars from Friday.

Sunday, get most of the packing done and work on any modeling projects in the left over time. I also purchased a paper shreader at Costco as I have 40 years of old tax returns to get rid of.

    See you all later!

    Good morning all,

As I am still waiting for the NCE detectors and the wiring to activate the signals I put in last weekend, I plan to start building the next pair of signals. These will be for the Southern Pacific line. I may also work on another batch of Atlas line poles. Everyone have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

    Hey Guys,

The only plan I have: Get the bodies of my F7 project painted black.

Hope Y'all have a great weekend,

Headed over to a church friend's home this afternoon to use his bandsaw to make some exacting cuts on some benchwork parts. When that's done, I can move forward with completing the last two table legs. The heat and humidity continue to be in the extreme, so my progress has stalled a bit ...

Parts I had ordered have not shown up as yet. Am not happy. So that project I had planned for will be on hold a bit longer. Instead, atop other distractions, I might begin work on a laser depot kit.

Well yesterday was the big day. I completed the Hamilton House hotel. Results posted below.

    TRAINBOARD HOTEL.jpg

Now it's time to get real. During my posts about construction I committed a "phoopah". I said I was making "cornices" for the structure. I did make cornices but after checking on google I found out what I was doing was making "corbels". Oh well. Something else I have to live down. I live in a small town and I only hope the mayor does not call me on the carpet and demand a public apology. Anyway, all have a great and fun and safe weekend! :D

Other than I need to build a clinic on signals, I won’t be doing much. I am officially on vacation and flying to Florida tonight. I won’t return until the 25th. Highball!

Around the house I will be doing the quarterly heavy-duty cleaning and waxing the 1st floor floors. I have the kitchen and breakfast nook done. Need to do the dining room, foyer, and living room. I will need to run to the hardware to get more wax. If there is time and the weather is not ungodly hot there is some weeding to do.

I plan to work on the engine terminal. I think I finally have the coaling tower where I want it. I need to assemble a water column, and sanding tower. Figuring out where the engine house will go is one of the things I need to do. Once I get the mainline reestablished run some trains.

I hope to do some more bodywork on the N scale RS3M I am kitbashing, as well as scratchbuild a unique air filter housing for an N scale GP-9 I am working on. Then, if time allows, I hope to get the models primed. Masking and finish painting may have to wait a week or two.

I am trying to represent two specific locomotives owned by the Housatonic RR. The GP-9 was sold and is no longer on the roster while the RS3M is currently stored out of service, but they were both running on the HRRC in the timeframe I am modeling.

    Howdy folks,
I'm planning to convert a C44-9W to BC RAIL. I have already ordered high hood bells and stone light covers in the USA. ESU LokSound 5 board and speaker are already there. Now I am waiting for my orders. Maybe someone still has a Kato N ES44AC powered body lying around, without a shell ... used in good condition?

    Happy weekend all.

The next new building at Albemarle City will be hopper unloading facility next to C&C dog treat. I have the grain unloader and storage bins but have to build and enclosed unloading building for the covered hoppers. The covered unloading building will have to be scratch built. There is also a bridge to be built that will be adjacent to this facility. An new turnout to install and so on.

This weekend I hope to install the turnout and start on the Central Valley bridge kit. I also want to make a decision on the final design of the grain unloading building and order whatever I need. I have been eyeing some ITLA modules to use. Or, I may find some brick columns and build a wooden building w/ exposed brick columns every 16 to 20'. I want it to look "stout" since the grain unloading equipment and pumping to the tower will sit on top of the unloading building.

This will be an extensive project, but will be a huge step in advancing the city scene.

I will continue working on my Walthers Modern Gas Station N Scale, and see how far I can get over the weekend. I must say this has been one of the most enjoyable kits, ( and I don't build many ) I have ever had. Also, has me in the mood to build others, but besides the Dairy Queen ( out of stock ), I don't see anything I like yet. Also, I am a molded color person, as I suck at painting, and don't enjoy it usually. Although I did enjoy painting the little tiny safety poles with a toothpick for the gas station. BTW, it is also taking me forever to build this as I am trying to be very careful. Something I usually lack in my building skills :)

Physically it’s weathering, weathering, weathering-I’ve got a ton of covered hoppers to do and three auto racks that have bright shiny Plano panels I put in a month ago. Which just won’t do.

Mentally it’s thinking about my real and simulated utility grid. I installed lights in all my passenger coaches awhile ago but now it’s bugging me that I don’t have any street lights (working or otherwise) interior lights, or utility poles. Got to figure out what I want to do before I run off buying stuff.

My weekend is going to last three weeks. Vacation time! Yay!

I have a few projects, modeling and others.

One is a boxcar that I will attempt to letter for my employer's company. I have decal paper and I have a printer that seems to take it well (I've tried some stuff, but light on dark is not very good since it's designed to print on white paper). I'm going for something plain black on a silver background - should come out OK, right?

I have a flat car that I want to turn into a mobile substation. I think that most of it will be scratch-built above the flat car's floor.

There's also an electronic project I've had on the back burner for a while that I think I'll bring it back out of mothballs. Some kind of Arduino-based "smart" (overused word...) DC throttle that eventually I want to interface to a computer, first by USB, eventually by Bluetooth.

Off the modeling track, I need to fix some wiring on my powered recliner. Putter around the house. I can get around a bit more since I've had my second COVID shot.

And when all else fails, play with my trains.:)

Been a busy week here in the Pacific Northwest. At least the weather has been closer to normal, meaning cool and breezy. I did find some time to work on last weekend's unfinished project: UP 2295 smoke stack.

Saturday: The morning will be spent getting ready for a birthday party at noon. Three of my grand nieces (brother's grandchildren) are sharing a party. Promises to be a good time with ages from 2 to 10 or thereabouts. I expect to finish the stack in the afternoon.

Sunday: Big day for soccer matches. In the evening I will turn my attention to figuring out how to make some disc drivers for the same loco.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Stay safe,

Have a few trees left from last weekend to put on the layout. Found some hazmat placard decals that I will start applying to places around the layout. Then I'll turn my attention to the workbench and try and figure out what project to start next. Also need to get some Indian ink and alcohol for some weathering. May also head to Home Depot and check out a couple of items for a project I am pondering for under the layout. My son has a lot going on and the wife's car needs an oil change so I see a bit of Ubering in my weekend plans as well. Hope you all have a great weekend!

I haven't posted on a Weekend Modeling Plans thread for months. I've been busy working on and around This Old Dump.

Depending on the weather I should finish up the foundation regarding project. I did it in several phases and has taken a while. For a sandstone foundation with a high watertable my cellar is pretty darn dry.

I have two modeling related goals for the weekend, the first is to get my little train room squared away. During my break from modeling my modeling bench has gotten buried under junk. Same with the layout.

Since I'm just getting back to the trains I'm going KISS this weekend.
My second goal is to get the layout cleaned off and down to the cellar so I can cut and install the pieces needed to fill the voids from ripping the hollow core door.

    Have a good one!
