Happy independence day all. Crazy weekend, parades to March in and fireworks to light Carefully and away from tinder.
I decided to lead off this week with a somewhat spectacular but definitely unseasonable shot of a CN freight blasting though snowdrifts. I took this on a bitterly cold and gray day back in the 90's (Don't remember exactly when, but the Canadian invasion was in full swing) at Emmett, MI on the former GTW Port Huron-Chicago main line.
An oldie but a woodie: Napierville Junction was a short connecting line for the D&H between Rouses Point, NY and Delson, QC (near today's Exporail), over the shortest, fastest route with the best grades. The D&H built it in 1881. With the NJ, the D&H has access to the major freight and passenger facilities in Montreal: This caboose was also built by the D&H, but in 1912.
Eat your heart out CN 8952, I got the original. GTW 4914 leading the L56791 02 nearing its northbound run to Manchester to swap freight traffic with L56591. South of Manchester, IA-CN Cedar Rapids Sub July 2, 2021 Most people get drunk, others want sex but as for me, I go Railfanning.
Juice jack! At the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, PRR 4465 reflects the blue and white of a Conrail neighbor. The E44 was the last electric locomotive delivered to the Pennsylvania. If you go, check hours of operation on their website.
A nice photo and interesting thumbnail history of the Napierville Junction, Mike. I knew of it, but nothing about its service area or heritage. I always get it confused with the Niagara Junction Rwy. Thanks!

Thanks. The power looks very familiar to a Michigan boy. Good to see the lead unit still in GTW paint. I wasn't sure there were any left.
