For those that have installed code 70 flex track and turnouts, what are the "pitfalls" as it were? I have two areas on my layout I am starting to consider actual construction. One is a coal mine area, the other is a small town w/ about 7 or 8 industry buildings. I am considering the ME system. I may stick w/ 83 but would like to consider using 70.

I think it looks really good when installed well. I've also seen photo's of it "not so good" when not installed well. I've done enough Code 83 over the last 30+ years where I know what that takes. My instinct is to take the same care with sub-bases, road bed, etc and track installation and it should be fine. However, I have not done 70 and want to know folks have learned from it if anything.

    Thanks!

I agree; I use 70 for sidings and branch lines, with no pitfalls.... well worth it!

I wish I had more real estate available on my layout; would love to have a coal mine with "empties in, loads out" by John Armstrong.

Any code track not laid well will not look good and any track laid well can be made to look good.

I handlay my mains in code 70 and most of my sidings and industry tracks in code 55 on my HO layout.

I have used Code 70 before, and plan to do so again on this new layout. Never had a problem before, I don’t anticipate any problems next time.

I cannot comment on ME brand but just laid some Peco and obviously it not as thick so doesn't need as much force to bend it to shape, I got caught out and had to back it off for some rough track but otherwise i'd say go for it!
