Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you had a good week and hope you are ready for a great weekend. Let's get started. Saturday: No trains today, it is the start of car show season which I missed last year due to COVID. I'll be getting up early to head to Angela's Father's place to get the Mustang and both me and her Dad will drive our Mustang's probably 3 miles to the show. It worked out great that the first show of the season is in the same town I store my car. After a busy, stressful week at work, I'm looking forward to the change of pace and spending time with family, cars, motorcycles, motorheads, good music and junk food! Sunday: Hard to believe but my Step Son is now a college graduate. He is off to one more adventure in Utah so Ang and I will drive to western IL to pick up his tried and true Camery to get some tires and maintenance done. I'm so glad we found him that little Toyota when he was in High School. Like my Toyota I had at his age, it just keeps running. After that I do have a project for Athearn I need to work on so that may take place and any other free time, well, I'll just see. So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Greetings all. Tomorrow, Saturday, the Mrs. and I have an extended family gathering we will attend but I should be able to get into the train room for several hours before hand. I may take that time to do work shop tasks I have been wanting to do w/ some freight cars, etc. Sunday I'll be at the layout trying to finish the scene I started a month ago. I have been chipping away at it some before I leave for work in the AM and a little after dinner, but extended progress during the week is difficult. A good day in there will knock it out. But I have learned our new pooch loves to come up in the attic w/ one of her toys and sit at the top of the stairs "chewing/gnawin' " while I am working on whatever. It is great to have another dog in the house. Have a great weekend all.

with the lifting of most COVID restrictions down here, and being fully vaccinated, I may be headed to a neighbor's house to do a little switching ops on his protolanced 1940's Southern Railway branchline. Sunday my oldest turns 25 so we will venture into the Big Easy for a family outing day. between routine yard work and other chores that will likely take my weekend.
If the weather holds to what is predicated, we will try to get some outside stuff. There is a raised vegetable planter to finish setting up provided I get a fresh coat of paint on it today. We will have to run out and get plants for the planter and for the flower gardens. I have the yard swing to set up in the gazebo in the backyard and lights to string on the pergola on the front patio. Before I work on trains, I need to decide what is next. I could build the passenger station and platforms, or the icehouse and platforms, or play with the track plan for the engine terminal. For a change of pace I could build some rolling stock.
Good morning all, The material for the lift gate visibility project came in during the week so I am working on that. This will consists of flashing red LED's attached to the bottom of the lift gate. They will flash when ever the gate is down across the doorway. I need to build a flasher circuit. The solar contractor who first told me that it might be Sept / Oct before they could get to me due to a shortage of installers had an opening in their schedule and will start today. Just finished the Senior Bowling Tournament, did not bowl well but had a lot of fun and I also worked on other sessions of the tournament as I am a Director of the Cleveland USBC. I hope to finish the IMRC 1958CF Covered Hopper kit this weekend (posted pictures on the HO What's on your Workbench Thread). Also going to build another 40' IMRC PS1 Boxcar kit and add it two my N&W fleet. Also I need to complete the decaling on my GP35 which has been sitting on the workbench for way to long. During the past week I have been upgrading the fleet of DT&I hoppers with Kadee Couplers and IMRC Wheelsets, hope to finish that project over the weekend. See you all later! Rick Jesionowski
Wow! A son who is a college graduate. Another son turning twenty-five. I have a granddaughter who turns twenty today. The time moves on by! Congrats to the Birthdays. Some folks are outside. Some are inside. All will get a lot done. I have chores tomorrow myself. Right now the building parts are all cut out ( I think) except the chimney. Also, the window and door openings are cut as well. If the sun does not make me go outside I should get some more done. All have fun and be safe.
Last weekend was all about Mothers Day so no modeling. I did make some progress during the week. Right now the weather is great and enticing me outside, but I still have some modeling plans for the weekend. 1. Time to get the hobby knives out of the tackle box and on the pegboard. Building another tool holder for the workspace. 2. The fire box, actually the sheathing over the top half, needs to be adapted to the new boiler shape for the Mikado. 3. The motor and headlight will get wires in preparation for frame assembly. Nothing too stressful. Plenty more to do if time allows. Stay safe,
My plans are to continue benchwork construction. I have one piece of lower level benchwork I will install in the morning. I don’t expect a huge amount of progress, as we have mid-day plans tomorrow and a birthday party on Sunday. Just ordered primer, looking at buying paint and a possible new airbrush. My son damaged both of my Badger 200's
Bremner, you might consider the double action airbrush from Harbor Freight. It's a knockoff of a Badger brush from what I understand and the price is right if you think possible damage is the future. At $20 (less with a coupon) a bent needle or air valve isn't the end of the world.
