Welcome back everyone. I hope you had a good weekend and for those blessed to still have their Mothers around, I hope you had a chance to be with them. Let's get started. Saturday: As predicted, the sun made a few appearances but between the north wind and the 20 degrees below normal temps, it felt more like March. It had been six months since I had sat in the drivers seat of the Mustang. The sound of the 5.0 and the Beatles on the radio quickly made my mood better. Both Angela's dad and I prepped the cars for next weekends show then put them away and picked up Grandma for Mother's Day dinner. We had a nice visit and enjoyed each others company while enjoying our meals. A fun day but no trains. Sunday: I slept in and got ready for my day. I had my podcast ready and then I realized, I had not gotten anything for Ang on this special day. Trudging through the 42 degree rainy weather, I managed to get her a rose and a card. I'll make her breakfast in a bit. Now to sit down and work on trains, no wait, Shelby and the granddaughter are here. Visit, sit down, now I'm ready to work on trains, no I got to call my Mom. 2 hours later, yikes! Breakfast is now dinner, it's 3:30! Hey who is here? Jared. Okay visit more, Jared leaves, okay I'll make breakfast dinner now it's 5:00. No? Chinese? Okay. Drive to said cuisine, enjoy, walk at a park till dusk. Get home, okay NOW, I can get some modeling done. My buddy Steve calls, an hour after a "quick call." OKAY, NOW I WILL SIT HERE AND WORK ON A TRAIN. Oh, it's time for bed, the weekend is over. In short, nothing was done. So how about you? What did you get done this past weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again of Friday the 14th to start the process all over again and who knows, I may be successful myself. Until then, have a great week, stay healthy, be safe stay warm and as always... High Greens!
Got a Tomytec chassis for a Pacific Electric 500 class car, 2 more on the way, and I am learning how much I hate painting DPM kits
Bad weekend, did not have much time, and actually backtracked two weeks since I burned out three streetlights I had already placed.... .
Good weekend. As in I was able to pick up our rescue pooch over in Winston-Salem on Saturday. Great dog, a young boxer. Our 4th. Saturday when we got back spent the rest if the day getting her acclimated to her new home. Sunday I managed to spend some time in the layout room. Got some trees planted and put down some static grass. Turned a few engines on and sounded whistles for the dog. She was extremely curious and cocking her head from side to side for each whistle or horn. Have a great week all!
We met some visiting out of town friends for dinner on Saturday evening then they came to our place for BBQ on Sunday. So not as much hobby time as I have been used to having but good to finally be able to socialize like normal people again. The LED's I ordered for the lift gate visibility project had not shown up yet but I did get some striped safety tape put up on the gate and painted and mounted come aluminum channel that will hold the LED's. I also finished switching the era on the layout so swapped all locomotives and rolling stock, cleaning wheels, and debugging little problems. Did do quite a bit of running so a good weekend. Hopefully by next weekend I'll be able to finish and show off the gate.
As hoped, I did get the car painted. HOn30 Funaro & Camerlengo resin kit. Now I must sit and wait on decals...

Did not get a lot done this weekend, but managed to apply all the grabs and the roof details to the IMRC 1958CF Covered Hopper kit, now on to the underframe. Also painted up a Tangent 4750CF Covered Hopper. Took my wife out to dinner with my youngest son and his wife on Sunday along with doing all the laundry. Rick Jesionowski
I completed decaling the 3 freights cars I have been working on. Started assembly of me friends Model T that's about it. Hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf
Saturday. We worked in the yard. My wife cleaned up the potted plants and I removed the sticks and other stuff stuck in the net that goes over the pond for winter. We did a few chores around the house. I worked some on the Cinder Conveyor. Sunday. We took it easy. We ordered a new refrigerator. It will be here on Thursday unless our current one dies, and they will move the delivery up. I was able to get it at a family run store instead of a big box. Our last experience with a big box was not good. Paid for installation and the delivery people said they could hook up the refrigerator because we didn’t have the right kind of water line for the ice maker. My son and I hooked up the existing working line. We had a similar experience with a dishwasher. When we got the new dishwasher, I went with a small store. They came out and installed it no problem. When we had a problem with it, I called the store and they jumped on GE and GE sent a technician out the next day. Had to wait for parts but the dishwasher got fixed right the first time. I doubt a big box would have done that. I finished the Cinder Conveyor and Ash Pit. Next step is weathering.
I didn't accomplish much. Work, of course. Then spent most of the rest of Sunday with family since it was Mother's Day. Our daughter and SIL hosted lunch/dinner with smoked and barbecued ribs, cheezy potatos, deviled eggs, razzleberry pie, chocolate silk pie, and probably a few things I'm forgetting. I tried to be careful but still ate too much just "tasting" everything (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). Didn't eat much of anything the rest of the evening but both my wife and I spent some time walking on the treadmill since it was too rainy and cold to take the dogs for our usual walk. I did spend a little time figuring out how to convert some old Tyco-ish pipe carrier flat cars into something useful. The plastic wheels will be replaced with metal, naturally, and truck mounted horn hook couplers will become body mounted Kadee knuckle couplers. I found a way to carve up the plastic deck to remove the pipe "holders" so that I can add weight (maybe using lead sheet) and a new balsa or basswood deck, which will be scored and stained too look more realistic. Once I figure out the process on the first one, I'll try to document it on video as I repeat it on the second. Once I pull the trigger on a solution to the weight problem, it should only take a day or so to finish the first car (I hope).
Sharp looking projects seen above. Way to go! I have actually began cutting out components for the structure after a period of dillying followed by some dallying. I will keep working. Have a great week!
Sad to report I didn't get any of the planned modelling work done this weekend. For one of my Metroliner plans I'm just sorely lacking in reference photographs to help guide my modelling, if you can believe that - lacking detailed photos of a Metroliner? Pssh. Must have poured over hundreds of photographs online but none of them show me the details I'm after (at the right angle) so I'll have to interpolate the things that I can see with the given material. What I did accomplish this weekend was some tests on an idea I've been playing with on the 3D printer; some printing techniques that could help me with some clever solutions to my Metroliner project. More on that to come, but in the meantime back to the planned tasks... Cheers -Mike
Nothing really to report this week. Didn’t get a lot done. I did however spend a few hours at a friends working on Ho latest Free-moN module. He is modeling the Gordon Creek bridge on the Utah Railway line in central UT. He had a few questions and I was able to help him get pointed in the right direction with his scenery. And how it all fits together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got nothing done, again. It didn't rain as forecast, so I started pressure washing Deckzilla, my 700 SF two level deck. Got most of it done except the rear steps, which need repair, but that's delayed because there is no 5/4 pressure treated planking, at least not worth spending top dollar for. The repairs can wait. Next step, four gallons of stain. I guess the layout can wait for a while.
