Group, I have a Z Scale MTL SD40-2 that when track power is applied, headlight works but no movement. Do I have a bad motor ? It's a Swiss MAXON 347726 Can anyone recommend a reputable Z Scale repair person ? Thanks,
How old is the unit. Some of the Z scales have issues with the grease turning to peanut butter consistency. I have repaired a few of mine with this issue. This happens al lot with Marklin. Is it a DCC unit or DC? Could be wrong address if DCC. That's what I can think of right off the top of my head. Later Richard
Does the headlight come on on its own or via throttle command? Other outputs? If you are handy with a voltmeter, you can probe the power outputs to the engine to see if they are getting voltage when throttle is applied.
One question : does one hear the motor growling when sending juice ? Isn't a cable/spring/contact beeing loose between PCB/decoder and the locomotive's motor ? Dom
