The lucky number. Watch out that trophy case is going to get pretty full and heavy Had to rewire mine. Gosh, that was bad.:confused:

Just checked my profile page. I've been a member since March 21, 2000. I think I was member number 300 back when TB started.

"Time flies"? I thought Time is money?

Actually time is the non-spatial continuum in which events occur linearly, usually in the direction of increased entropy, but that's a mouthful, so I usually stick with the money analogy.

If time is money and times flies when you are having fun. Does that mean money flies when you are having fun ? It seems to in this hobby !!:LOL::whistle:

I’m guessing that a lot of us go back to that N scale mailing list on that server at Stanford IIRC. Circa 1996 for me. Aka dawn of the internet.

In this hobby money flies whether you are having fun or not. :( I see where Bachmann wants almost $50 for a three bay hopper that appears to be identical to the Atlas three bay hopper. They are even offering it in the PRR yellow ball scheme. Yeah, I know, the street price will be about $30. Whoopie ding!

The three things that seem to be certain in life, death, taxes and nothing is getting cheaper. I just purchased one of the new Bachmann Steam locomotives at a discounted price I might add, but at one time that price would have even been considered on the high side for a Brass locomotive.

On the plus side, this new steamer runs great, sounds great and the detail for N scale is fantastic (you thought I'd say great again didn't you :ROFLMAO:)

Anyways Congratulations George on 13 years, I'm now feeling a little inadequate with only 7 years under my belt here on the Train Board. I guess I'm still wet behind the ears

Now that is truly profound . . . well almost but we'll accept it.

Prices for new equipment have certainly gone up. Also, secondary market prices seem pretty high right now. That said, we've seen evidence of the Micro-trains collecting bubble starting to pop. Occasionally, over on the nscaleyardsale mailing list, we've seen large lists of NIB Micro-trains being posted at very reasonable prices (e.g. $8 - $10 for cheaper freight cars and maybe $15 for premium cars such as auto racks or TOFC equipment). I'm not really looking to accumulate more freight rolling stock right now, but that's the route I've taken the past couple of years. I don't recall buying a new freight car from any manufacturer for maybe five years. Passenger equipment and locomotives from Kato is a different story....

Mtntrainman, Congratulations on receiving your 13 year trophy! But, much more than that, I want to thank you for all the clear answers and photos that you have provided over the years along with a little inspiration! Also, you have always provided help gracefully without being judgmental. - Thank you, Tonkphilip
