I'm Philippe (aka PhantomRC) and I'm living on the Belgian coast.
Since 2015 I'm retired from the air force ... the Belgian one of course :) and I needed an occupation to keep my creative mindbusy. That's how I came to HO (DCC) trains. Before that I had some experience with radio controled aircrafts as well as with static plastic models.
No wife, no kids, no dog ... no fish in a bowl. :)

I discovered this forum while I was looking for information on the use of DCC++ on Arduino. My intention being to replace my Z21 central by a self made item or at least part of it.
I hope to find some answers here.

    CU on the forum.

Hi Philippe, Welcome. Look at the DCC & Electronics forum where many members discuss DCC++.

Welcome aboard, Philippe! Having been to your wonderful country, I learned to love fine beer. Not sure where on the coast you are, but one of my most memorable trips was to the Westvleteren St. Sixtus abbey for the finest Trappist around. As hard as that stuff is to get, the next closest thing that I found was St. Bernardus Abt 12. If I want something bright and crisp, Duvel was my go-to. I love Belgian beer, can ya tell? I miss it terribly!

Happy to read that the trappist beer is appreciated :)I'm living in Koksijde, about 30 minutes from the brewery ... but sorry I'm not a beer guy ... I prefer French Bordeaux wine ;-)

Hi Philippe, welcome to the group.

In the grand scheme of things I am not far from you, down in Geneva, Switzerland. Similar background too - retired from the New Zealand Airforce.

DCC++ is very good, gives you a lot of control over the layout, especially when combined with an JMRI/CMRI node network, you can build a full control system for your layout with little expense.

There's plenty of experience on here, so someone should be able to help with any questions you have!

    Cheers
    Chris

Thanks to all but as for now I do have a little issue with the site structure. When I try the "Search Forums" I always get an error as response.
    Is that normal?

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

I am sorry to say that currently our Search engine is giving us a bit of trouble. We are not as yet certain what the bug might be, but a remedy is being pursued. We are all volunteers, with lives and jobs ongoing, so are devoting what spare time is possible to find a fix. Please bear with us. :)
