Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend and got a lot done. Let's get started.

Saturday: I was ready for the weekend. I started by getting the cassette functional by using the European style terminal blocks mounted on to the cassette then found a pair of wires with the Anderson power poles to allow me to get power from the layout. I know I could have used rail joiners and eliminated the wiring but I like the reliability.

A test with the new GP40-2's and all was good. I have a temporary shelf bracket on the other side that helps with keeping the cassette level. I'll build something a bit more finished in the next few weeks however. I still need to add the sides but cold weather prevented me from painting the track. I then worked on a few small projects through out the day and finished with a pizza and a movie with the wife.

Sunday: Having not forgetting to set my clocks back to normal time, I slept in. I was a ball of energy though as I started up the heat in the garage, cleaned it up, cleaned out some shelving that was in the way up stairs, subsequently used it successfully in the garage then started working on the motorcycle. Turns out I need a new battery. I then worked on the N scale shadowbox layout. Painting all the nooks and crannies sky blue took longer then expected but I was happy with the results.

I ran out of time to install the LED's but maybe next weekend. Overall, I'm pleased with the results.

So how about you? What did you get accomplished this past weekend? Let us know. We'll start the process all over again on Friday the 19th. Until then, have a great week, stay healthy, be safe and as always...

Had to change modeling plans. Friday afternoon, I pulled a muscle in my lower back. It is getting better and I should be back in the saddle by Wednesday or Thursday of this week. At least this morning I can stand fully upright without looking like the crooked ol' man in the nursery rhymes. In any event, I spent most of the weekend parked on the drafting stool at the work bench. Decaled 5 freight cars and put together some more kits for future painting.

Here are 3 of the ones that I got done.

I had a decent modelling weekend.
I cut in a road and a couple of parking lots (One for a switch tower and one for Oxnard's depot).
I also started to add back some details. (removed for the re-dirt project)

Hope Y'all had a great weekend,
@Kitbash -- I hope your back heals quickly!!

Made some progress on the small switching layout/diorama. Still working the structure and install for the trestle and adding other scenery details, but snapped a few pictures of the current state:

    HI guys

Got a bunch of wiring straightened out and also got 2 remote switch machines wired (one more to go). In doing some testing I discovered a nasty kink in the rails, so I have that torn apart to fix today (Hopefully) in digging for parts for the switch etc, I found (glory be) a set of motors for my micro quad, so I'll get the dead one replaced today

So anyway it was a good modeling weekend -- I go back to work on wednesday, so we'll see how things will go from there -- my weekends will now be sunday, monday, tuesday

    Have fun

Good morning, I also had a good weekend modeling and otherwise.

Friday was clear skies and beautiful so I spent it outdoors successfully assembling the new grill and then got some seeds in the ground in one of the garden beds that I had already prepared.

The rest of the weekend was rainy so glad I got those things out of the way and could spend the rest of the weekend in the train room. Got a good start on cleaning up and then worked on the window scenery insert. I tried to lighten the sky, looks like I need to do more. Painted in a more distant hill in the background and then used part of the leftover end of the photo backdrop from the expansion to carry it's foreground scene into the insert. Still need to add some brush in this area and that should help.

Sorry to say, no modeling over the weekend. The weather was great for working outside. I got alot accomplished along those lines freeing up time for modeling during the week.

It is windy and back down in the 20's this morning so I'm glad I rearrange my schedule. The trainroom is warm and sunny this morning.

Maybe I'll post a midweek addendum.

Not much domestically this weekend. Ran a few errands. Took three PetSmart before we found the dog’s prescription can food. My daughter got her first COVID shot. She had to travel up to a place near Scranton about a two-hour drive one way. She is feeling the side effects this morning. My wife and I got our shots a little while ago and go for our second shots in a week and a half. This leaves only my son to get his.

I finished the Sand and Fuel Depot as far as I can until it is installed into the layout. Began working on the Walthers Coaling Tower.

Not a lot done due to being outside. :D Nice weather. Now clouding up. I did have one of the upgraded cars back in for a repair. I did not see this coming. We continue to learn.. Got some parts ready and did some disassembly of the locomotives. I need to get cracking. All have a good and safe week. (y)

My weekend got taken up with yard work, that's ok, it's done and everyone's happy. I did get a little time to work on a track plan, I've used up my allotted 50 pieces, don't know if the rest is worth the license/subscription fee. Learning to use the flex track tools would free up space on the inventory list. I think I'll think about where to go from where I am. Be Safe all.

Not a lot of time spent working on the layout but did get a couple of things going. Started paint work on a Royale Models N scale modern garbage truck. Neat little kit. Put together some wiring for some building light, decaled the grain elevator main building and got it set in place. Lots of details to go but finally feels like I'm getting somewhere on this grain elevator project.

I got the plywood fastened down and plotted the center lines for each track directly onto the plywood.

Still considering overlaying the plywood with a thin sheet of foam underlayment (for laminate flooring) before laying the yard tracks. [IMG]

As I updated over the weekend, work on the station kit came to a halt due to pieces appearing to be miscut. Turns out my hunch was correct. I emailed the photo to the manufacturer and he was surprised. Apparently no one else alerted him to it earlier. He is going to recut the parts and send them to me, they require slight bending to match the slope, and the bend lines are on the side I would have to shorten. Better to make sure it's right now that I've made it this far.

So I continued on the much despised task of coupler conversions. In addition to the F-7's and the E-8, I replaced the couplers on two U-25C's and a GP-35. These were all pilot mounted, so I didn't mind these too much. I still have a few older Kato's that are truck mounted, an RS-3, an RS-11 and a GP-30. Those can wait. I went through the rolling stock and started replacing those I had that needed MT's. Most I just added new truck mounted couplers. I've set aside several cars that will need body mounted couplers and saving those for another crappy weather day. I forgot to mention that I scored a great deal on a large lot of couplers on the auction site, which was the inspiration for this long delayed effort.

    Nice work, everyone.

Wow! A lot got done this weekend. Some of it may have been yard work, but that will pay dividends later.

Saturday: Sharon and I hit the road to see a few local communities we were unfamiliar with. Drove through White Center and Burien. Took a long walk around the Proctor neighborhood in Tacoma. Finished by grabbing some lunch in Sumner. Most of those places I had only seen from the highway as I drove by.

Sunday: Got my tool "housekeeping" done so I could use the workspace. Formed, trimmed and soldered some brass to make...

ladders! I am very pleased with the result. And this is where they go:

Just leaning on the other parts at this point. I need to make some other changes to the tender before fixing them into place.

Next up I got the engine stripped and cleaned out the sanding dust from working on the tires.

I did not get to the mods on the drivers, frame and pilot. Maybe this week.

    Stay safe,

Later in the week up date,

During the week I was able to get all the bracing installed on the RAILHEAD Granary.

I'm looking forward to listing this weekend's plans tomorrow.
