Welcome back everyone to that gateway to the weekend. I hope your week went well and you are ready to tell us about what you have planned for the weekend. Let's get started.

Saturday: Well after I recover from more blood work and doctor visits (Those Doctors love multiple blood test), I hope to enjoy a relaxing weekend. I'm not planning on going anywhere as I have plenty to work on here. I started building a cassette for the HO switching layout the other day and plan on getting that finished up. I'm still researching switch stands but will probably end up with the Proto 87 kits and use Tam Valley Frog Juicers to power my frogs. Might be a trip to my not so local hobby shop after all.

Sunday: Not sure at this point. It is supposed to rain so I may enjoy the day doing some reading and trying operations on the HO layout.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 15th to see how we all did. Also, a note from the Station Master. Please be sure to set all clocks one hour ahead Saturday night. We don't need any cornfield meets on Sunday! In other words, we get to turn the clocks ahead to what I call normal time. Ah longer periods of daylight after work, railfan season is almost here.

Until Monday, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Well.... First off -- Thanks To Jim for running this thread each week -- I really enjoy it!

This weekend will largely depend on how I'm feeling -- Im recovering from a nasty lower GI bug -- and im supposed to go back to work from my heart surgery on Wednesday, we'll see....

Assuming I am feeling decent, I want to get the power supply placed for the atlas switches, and get those wired -- I have a slight gap in a rail that is de-railing my main locomotive, so I need to fill that with solder and then grind it smooth etc, and I'd like to get the AD Tracks at least partially established, but I'm running out of track, so hopefully my rich Uncle Joe will come across with my money and I can go buy more track!!!! -- we'll see

    Have a great weekend all

    TIM

I plan on continuing to weather and detail the old International Hobby Corp Sand and Fuel Depot kit I have on the bench. If I finish it next will be the Walthers Wood Coaling Tower kit to build. The layout is stall due to a couple of switches sitting in a postal facility in Kansas City, MO for the last 9 days. I also have to order some Code 100 #6 switches. Part of this weekend will be searching to see if anyone has any at a reasonable price.

Since I was able to finish phase 1 of my re-landscaping project last weekend, I plan on phase 2. Cutting in dirt roads and adding a parking lot to Oxnard depot.

    Y'all have a great weekend,

    Lots to do-

Need to finish painting up the rail on the modules then I want to assemble them in the garage since it getting warmer out. I need to do a couple repairs and then I will ballast and start laying scenery down. If it is too cold for the set up I still have a couple structures to build. I also have a clinic I need to finish writing up as well as a proposal for the NMRA division board.

Biggest goal for this weekend will be to do a cleanup of the train room and work bench. Working on the recent layout expansion I really let things get messy. Then after that I want to start to work on the scenery window insert to get the hills and sky to better match with the new area. Non railroad projects include assembling a new gas grill that was delivered yesterday, weather permitting.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend whatever you are doing.

Two straight days in the high 60's here, today in the mid 50's. I've got the road bike out and I'm hitting the roads again today. Maybe a run, too. It's supposed to return to normal here over the weekend, with maybe even some frozen precipitation in the forecast. I'll probably be back to work on the layout tomorrow. The shingle pieces for the Eastern Station kit arrived, I painted them and pressed them under books to dry without warping, so maybe I can finish it up by Monday. I estimated 100 hours, but it looks like it will be less than half that, depending on how installation of the nearly 100 struts for the canopy goes.

Excellent weather expected here this weekend so having to just play it by ear. Hopefully I will at least get a little painting done and maybe some wiring work as well.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Looks like weekend rain here in South Texas. Maybe will address this issue:

^ RJ, that string of outside braced boxcars is awesome.

This weekend, plan on maybe some more painting and layout work of some description. I have no clue right now. This will be another weekend where I find out what I am doing slurping on my coffee first thing tomorrow AM in the train attic.

All but one railcar have been upgraded. The two locomotives are the shop for upgrades. A trip to the local storefront train club may happen Saturday am. All have a great weekend. (y)

I'm going to be putting wood decks on flatcars. It's going to take awhile to do six cars, probably into next week. Be Safe all.

Got a little time during the week and made a soldering jig for some ladders. So...

Saturday: Sharon and I are going adventuring again to check out a few area communities. I expect it will use up my energy for the day. It was great fun last weekend and I am hoping for more of the same.

Sunday: Some tool "housekeeping" needs to be done to continue the evolution of my workstation. That has to happen to free up the space to work in. If that gets done, on to the following:

Form the brass strip and set in the soldering jig. Solder. Wish me luck!
Strip the Mikado frame and clean it. (From last weekend's removal of the non-conductive blackening.)
Improve the drivers' electrical performance with conductive paint.

That is likely to fill the available time. We'll see.

    Stay safe,

First thing Im going to do is to modify the LED rope light I’m using for staging lighting by adding a simple on/off switch.

Later this morning, I’d like to cut two sheets of plywood to 30” width and get those screwed down on the lower benchwork for the main body and north end of the classification yard.

Once I have those two things done, I can paint part of the ceiling over the layout and slowly work on the second level benchwork. Probably won’t do either of those things this weekend, but those are the next steps.

Weather here changed fast. Back into the low 30's so I hit the train room early. The roof is assembled and it's ready to add the canopies. It looks like a few of the canopy parts might have been cut wrong. A couple of the roof sections color doesn't seem to match, so it's going to be retouched. I plan to weather it with black chalks so that just help also. IMG_0025.jpg
These are the canopy sections. The shingles are glued to cardboard backing strips. For the narrower canopy sections provided, the shingles and cardboard backing are the same size. But the wider sections the cardboard backing is about a 1/4" wider. I should be able to cut the backing strips back but I'm going to check with Bergen National Laser first to be certain.

So with that on hold, I did one of my least favorite modeling tasks. Kadee coupler conversions. I changed out the couplers on a pair of older Kato F-7's and repaired a broken coupler on a Kato E-8. The T-shank kind that have to be assembled and fit into an 1128 coupler box and delicately pried into place. If there is any thing that will drive me out of N scale, this is it! Thankfully I only have a few more to complete, and I think those are all pilot conversions.

Before anyone comments, the roof isn't done... There are shingle strips to cover the seams and flashing strips for all the valleys. Yes they all need painting too. Then the weathering. Maybe that 100 hour estimate wasn't so far off base after all.
