A couple of ex-CP work service cars. The nearer one is the oldest, an outside brace wood box car. The second one was an automobile box car, outside braced wood with steel ends but wooden doors - one of them is a tad ragged. On the nearest car one can just make out a faded "CANADIAN" near the upper corner.
I managed to get out this week, but didn’t get a ton of good photos. It was getting toward the end of the day, and the light wasn’t really there. I thought this was interesting though, this NS SD40-2 was on the local, but the damage to the fuel tank is what caught my eye. There looks to be a large dent on the underside; the cause is unknown to me. You can see it in profile towards the front of the locomotive.
Derailments tend to cause that. That, and running off the edge of the turntable stub track into the pit! Light power slows to enter the siding at Carpio, ND to make a pickup. I like the classic Soo Line code poles and flanger signs.
I caught another Western Pacific covered hopper just south of Fresno, same place and almost the exact sopt as the other that I found a few months ago: I also found this SD38 that they use as a switcher there. Someone on FB said that it's an DM&IR SD38AC:
