Good Morning, good evening, where ever you may be. Welcome once again to that gateway to the weekend. I'm excited as I have items coming in that should allow me to have a good model railroad weekend. Let's get started.

Saturday: I was super happy to find that Fed Ex delivered my new Genesis B&M GP40-2's yesterday. I have not had a chance to look at them in detail yet but what I have seen so far is great. After work today, I'll be heading to my "not so local hobby shop" as I only need one more piece of HO code 70 track for my switching layout and tomorrow, my bus wire should be here. The goal for the somewhat cooler Saturday is to finish laying and wiring two more spurs, installing the bus line and installing my NCE panel and trying out these new B&M GP40-2's! It feels like 1978 in here! (B&M reference).

Sunday: With temps at 55 and projected weather the beginning of the week being in the mid 60's, woo hoo! I need to work on screens for the house. Get a Beagle they said, it will be fun they said. Actually I do love my Beagles but they were rough on the screens last year so I have new pet friendly screen and frames I need to build and install. Any time left over from that will probably involve work in the yard and some prep for the new bucket garden. Fortunately the garage has WiFi and a TV, so while doing the screen project, I can catch up on my favorite train YouTube videos.

So how about you? What is on your list of model railroad plans this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 8th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

    This weekend the plans are:
    1. Airbrushing tasks that I couldn't get to last weekend.
    2. Spend some time putting shims in about 6 more Tortoise header connectors. I was running trains this week and each time I cut on the Digitrax system, I got the dreaded "check for shorts" beep that eventually clears. This happened before I fixed by shimming header cards so they wouldn't slide around on the Tortoise. I do have six more that I neglected after the beeping stopped. Time to get the rest of them done and put this issued to bed. This is one of those things that will take me about an hour total to do, but I just haven't done it.

    Have a great weekend all.

I'm hoping to get the other 3 flats built to the same level of completion. Maybe I'll get started on the etched radiator grill on the SW1, at least get the marking done for the demolition.

We have warm and sunny weather predicted this weekend, so my first project will be replacing the smoked lexan panels on the rook of our pergola. 2.5 of them exited the pattern in Hurricane Zeta so I'm just going to pull off and redeck. There's also the usual early spring yard prep to do - raking, fertilizer etc. And we have a bit of mold in the drywall inside the closet under the stairs next to the airhandler . . .

Not sure what is planned for this weekend. I just got my first COVID shot Thursday so depending on if I get any side effects and how bad may determine what gets done. My wife had a headache, a slight fever, and chills after her shot.

I have the outer loop done and temporarily tacked down. I am at a standstill since I need track and I am waiting for it to arrive. I may outline the track zone for future placing of roadbed. Again I need twice as much as I have so that will be the next order. I am thinking of having a small engine servicing facility near the passenger station in the city section. I need to workout the track plan and building layout.

The workbench needs to be reorganized. It is chaotic from the recent layout rebuilding. I need to organize the pile of kits.

I still have five cabooses on the workbench that need weathering and a couple of more I should begin the weathering process.

My model RR plans for this weekend include adding many of the finishing touches to the new Palisade Ranch area of my layout. Paint and install a sky board above the hillside, weather and install the tunnel portals, add more ground cover to the areas that need it, and then maybe start adding some brush. In between the work sessions on the layout I will be doing outdoor chores.

Everyone continue to be safe and enjoy the weekend whatever you are doing.

My weekend modeling plans include power drops for the interchange / visible staging yard, getting the yard lead to Johnson yard installed, and putting in temporary power for the atlas snap switches -- if my tax refund arrives, I'll hopefully buy some more track

    Have a great weekend everyone

Will be in the low 60's in the ATL this weekend so nice but not quite paint booth weather. For the layout, I plan to redo the base for the grain elevator and drill holes for wire leads for future lights. Have some decal work for the silos and the main building that I will try to get to as well. Also have some finishing up paint detail to do on some GHQ models that got a coat of paint last weekend.

In addition to that, need a hair cut, need to work moving and cleaning up the bird feeders, and then driving lessons with my son.

Of course that all depends on how I feel, got my second shot yesterday afternoon. Very sore arm today and a bit of a headache but that's it so far. Hopefully that will be it.

Wish all of you a great and fun weekend. Stay safe!

Right now there are five more railcars in the shop for upgrading to the new retainer configuration. Most parts are ready for assembly. This should go somewhat quickly. Adding my two cents: Have fun and stay safe all. (y)

Hello everyone, will not get a lot of modeling done this weekend, bowling tonight, and then I have to help out at the City Tournament this weekend setting up and calculating the brackets that the bowlers get into.

If I have time I hope to continue on my upgrading project on bunch of Stewart Coal Hoppers replacing the couplers and wheelsets with Kadee's and IMRC wheelsets. Also plan on decaling a MEC gondola and paint and decal an Exactrail Evans 5277CF Boxcar.

I received my second Covid shot on Wednesday, and felt a little out of sorts on Thursday, but some Tylenol and a little rest am good today.

Any plans are temporarily on hold until the side effects of the second Covid vaccine wear off. I felt ok yesterday, but this morning I didn't even want to get out of bed. It feels like the flu, but without any 'digestive system' issues. When they do wear off, plans depend on if the replacement roof parts arrive. I got most of the walls of the Bergen National Laser kit in place and started on the roof, only to discover two shingle sections needed for the first part of the roof assembly were missing. An email to the company was answered within minutes, along with a pledge to expedite them to me. I was concerned initially because they stopped producing this kit, but I suspect they just had to load the files and let the computer do it's work. There are probably still 300 parts to go. It's gone pretty well but there still time to screw it all up royally if past experience plays out o_O IMG_0015.jpg IMG_0016.jpg

Saturday the wife and I will be checking out some nearby communities as potential landing spots. We have been in a rental for the past three years and are more than ready for something of our own again.

I have some domestic chores to complete before the modeling begins. Here is what is on the train agenda:

-Get my DC supply up and running again. I "rearranged the furniture" a few weeks ago and have not rewired the supply.
-With the supply assembled I can lay a Kato Mike on its back and clean the blackening off the drivers.
-Next up, disassemble the mechanism for a thorough cleaning.
-Improve the performance with conductive paint on the back of the drivers.
-Figure out how to convert one driver pair to Boxpok design.
-If there is any bonus time I will work on the new boiler design, possible frame mods and side rod changes.

    Stay safe,

Well today we decided to head north and check on our cabin.
The township dirt road is plowed but the lane our cabin is on isnt. Fortunately we only had to carry everything in about forty yards.

This trip I was hoping to run down to Schrader Creek and get some pictures of an old Susquehanna & New York bridge but the road is impassable from this end.

I brought some InterMountain, West India Fruit & Steamship Co. box car kits to work on.

    Have a Good One!

Now that my taxes have been filed I can focus more on modeling.

This weekend I return to the construction of trees. Starting to paint the sticks for the trunks.

Sunday I will return to the modules and prep them for ballast. Currently painting rail rusty.

This weekend's plans are to attempt to repeat last weekend but with a proper shell, so if you've been paying attention you'll know where this is headed. I want to take better care on the masking this time so I don't know if I'll get as far along as I did last weekend.

Going to attempt more structure work this weekend. Maybe I'll get the depot done. Got the first coronavirus shot last Saturday, didn't feel too bad, just some soreness in the injection area. I am a little nervous about the second one coming up next Saturday, though. Everyone seems to be having worse side effects from that one.
