I received the Yamix Test Stand last night, which I ordered from Amazon (https://smile.amazon.com/Yamix-Acce...s=yamix+test+stand&qid=1614278705&sr=8-1&th=1) along with an extra 6 roller blocks. While I have been generally pleased with the DCC Concepts "Rolling Roads", they are a bit finicky for n-scale use, as the rollers are designed for "universal" use across many scales. I would say with the DCC Concepts product, I can successfully run a loco about 50% of the time. So far, the Yamix is 100% Here's a video with one of my first tests, and some close up photos of the stand and rollers
That's interesting. A while back I bought the Bachrus running stands for n scale. They were finicky. The speedometer USB interface sorta worked with JMRI. I may give these a try. Not sure what the connecting line is for $6. A power wire?
Yeah, I think it is for a power wire. As I show in the video, alligator clips work just fine, and don’t cost that much for just a pair. Getting the extra roller blocks, that is important.
Rick, Great demonstration! I've been looking at that product. And I just pulled the trigger and ordered one myself!
I did the same thing and had the same results. It was difficult to use with large steamers. I opted to forget about JRMI and went with a long oval on a hollow-core door and the Accutrack Speedometer. Served as a test track and a speed matching process. I have almost all my locomotives speed matched to run with one another in "Normal" lashups.
Dave, agree wholeheartedly! Will still use the Accutrack on my oval for speed matching. Was just looking for a reliable method of testing in my office near my workbench
