Hi all. Sorry to have to tell you that Graham Jones, the first pre-eminent exponent of Z gauge in the United Kingdom lost his battle with Covid 19 yesterday. He had embraced the 'new scale' when it first appeared and went on to show many different layouts over the years. he founded Z-club GB and was a stalwart of our annual Zedex conventions. After retiring from Network Rail he had run a business called Northampton Model Railway Supplies doing white metal casting and other components in various scales He will be missed for his constant enthusiasm and is willingness to help any new starter in Z our thoughts go out to Eve and the rest of his family Kev
That's very bad news indeed. He sent me some shells he had cast, to fit over the Marklin 0-6-0 mechanism about 15 years ago. Graham will be missed and the Z community has suffered a great loss.
This is truly a sad day. I have known Graham for many years. I always loved his spirit an enthusiasm. I am going to miss him.
Very sad to hear. We first met around 15 years ago. Graham was never afraid to try the impossible in Z scale and he put UK Z on the map. I will miss talking to him at Z events. My condolences
I met Graham several times at train meets in Europe when I lived there. A great person, a first class artist and a Z Master.
I was very sad to hear this. Graham Jones was a kind gentleman and a creative and energetic modeller. I enjoyed his layouts and his sense of humour ("Standen Watchett"?). We had some contact over the years, as recently as late October of this year, when he helped me out with a question. Altenbeken will not be the same without him, the z scale community will miss him. My condolences to his family and friends. Matt
Once again, great to see that magnificent winter themed layout although not on these terms ! I read many posts and found many references in my early (2004) years of Z. They stay in your mind, forever. Graham, thanks for that, and all have and still continue too. R.I.P
