I’m sorry this is a bit blurry, the wind was playing havoc with the drone today. Here we are preparing to load a coil on to a Western flatbed trailer for delivery to Tulsa. I built from plastic shapes the first of several coil hooks I will need on the layout. This is the new 30 ton bridge crane at Kloeckner Metals. This also adds a third switching location at Kloeckner. Thanks, Dale
Photos of our January 2021 Operations Session, a nice way to start the year! Sean and I ran for a full 3 hours this evening, switching in cars from BNSF and SKOL.
I picked up a few items today. A Roundhouse PS covered Hopper, soon to be patched to WAMX. A owner painted and modified SD40-2 in Frisco livery, this unit has a nose light modification with a Mars light onboard. There is some type of module in the body that does the nose light. I’m going to see what I can do to bring this up to date. Last but not least, somewhere under all that paint lurks a CF 7, it was buchered pretty well but I believe it is savable. I’ve already removed the front handrails in preparation for a good strip. The is an old school Bluebox model. The body will fit on a GP 7/9 Athearn frame, which I already had and was wondering how to chop the nose on it. But this is way more interesting to get another CF and in either KO or SEK livery. It will look right at home on the layout..... 37 bucks, did I go crazy?
It’s better than 380 bucks for brackets and pending layout construction. KGB Kansas Grain Bridge is officially beginning! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
HNY all Looks like y'all had fun Sorry but I had to red tag your frisco unit for the non functional Gyra light that's missing
Gifted to me today by fellow Tulsa Area Model Railroader and owner of the Santa Fe Hereford Subdivision Sammy Carlisle. There is a very good camaraderie among the Tulsa guys. This guy may not be hauling high coal to power stations anymore, but the folks out at Greenhill Materials think it does a mighty fine job of moving limestone aggregates to plants that produce concrete to build America. Thank you Sammy, that was a thoughtful gift! If you want to see a great model railroad, do a search for Sammy Carlisle and the Santa Fe Hereford Subdivision, you’ll be glad you did. Quite a railroad!
Back about 1990 Roundhouse came out with a 12 car set of these in different road numbers. I have been looking at them for the last couple of years telling myself I need to weather them and get the reflective strips on them. Here is number one of 12 and number two is being dirtied up now. Maybe in 30 more years I’ll have a few more done......
How long before the port gets its new locomotive? Looks like you have some new modeling opportunities! Photo credits to Nick Nichols and Steve Laser on Facebook.
Really like the new paint scheme and logo. May have to drive to the port to see the new locomotive sometime in the near future. Dale, you have to add another locomotive to your layout, can't have too many. Haha. Joe
