Well in a first I just received an E-mail from EBay asking me to rate something I have not received yet and is still in shipment.
I've gotten those as well. And when I did leave feedback for an item that eventually arrived, one of the questions is "did the item arrive on time?". Well, no, it didn't, but that wasn't the fault of the shipper. Kind of makes the feedback system even less useful (and imo it wasn't that useful to begin with).
This is not humor, as it is a very nicely done model, but check out where the bid is. Yowzers!..... Atlas N Dash 8-40C Norfolk Southern #8692, DCC, Detailed, Ditch Lights, IOB! | eBay
Something seems fishy with this. The seller has two of the same loco just different road numbers. This one is sitting at 519.00, the other one still sitting at the opening bid. Both end at the same time. Why not just get the other one for what looks like right now a steal. Unless one of the two active bidders really really wants this number, it looks like someone is just running up the bids for the seller. Just my take. I might be wrong. The seller looks to be very very good. So I doubt my suspicions. Just looks funny to me.
that’s from my local train shop, and Rob usually has really reasonable prices. It is a beautifully finished building but not $200 beautiful
I haven’t purchased anything , bid on ebay in years ... 2000? and I still receive Feedback , how are we doing , how can we improve our Site? To me seems that they’re always grasping at straws to improve. Tom
Or trying to get some steam built back into their system. They've lost a fair number of us, who were active in their earlier years, both as buyers and sellers. And since they shed PayPal, that didn't exactly work out well. According to one source, while PP has continued to grow, (significantly), eBay's sales have been close to flat ever since their parting.
I was going to post this, but you beat me to the punch. If this was my auction, I'd hand deliver this engine. Especially with the way the USPS has been under siege with covid. 2 day packages are 2-3 week deliver times.
eBay is pushing shipping estimates out... way out... Just picked up something last night and "It should be to you by January 22." Meanwhile, still waiting for a package that was brought to the Post Office on December 15. There was some movement last week-- from one post office in Maryland to another post office in Maryland... but no, not the seller's fault AT ALL.
I made a New Year's Resolution that I would not post silly auctions here. For the record, that resolution lasted not quite 11 days. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shell-Train-Set/124513814726
Seems like things are getting a bit better. One package ordered from eBay estimated for the 15 will arrive today. Two others only took 3 days and the original estimate was 7 days. Covid has really done a number on the USPS. Doesn't really bother me that much I have to wait a while i understand the difficulties they are having.
And shipping to me is $15.05, Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium Box. I guess since it's listed as made of "cast iron" a Small Flat Rate Box won't hold it. Yeah, no. Now that I've already broken my New Year's resolution I'm going to have to find that Atlas PS-2 covered hopper with the low, low Buy It Now price of $50.
