Do they still sell these in DCC brand new? I don't know anything about these units. I usually go strictly on what looks good to me. Or if I can get a deal :) If anyone owns them can you throw up some pictures? And if want to go so far as explaining them in real life, fell free. If they existed in real life. Man this could be bad. As you can see I am a casual model railroader :)

Thanks, that old? I was mainly talking about the CB&Q shell. Guess that takes care of that. Once again thank you for the info! Any later other locomotives in that color scheme?

The FT models are not early production; just the prototypes. The models are very good recent style production. On the CB&Q they ran into the early 1960s. Originally configured as ABBA sets, soon broken up to FTAB / F2A ABA sets. On the Q could not operate except in AB pairing; some roads modified them so the could operate individually.
Kato made an F2A which looks good with the InterMountain FTAB.

Production began in 1940. Some came from the factory with couplers at each end. Officially these were FS models, though everyone calls them all FTs now (S for single, T for twin). The Santa Fe preferred the FS, among others. Except for knowing which road bought which, I know no way to tell an FSA from an FTA, but the FSB had hostler controls with a ninth porthole the hostler could stick his head out of and maybe see if he was about to run over someone.

Yes, the Q painted postwar freight cowl units the same way.
