Walk around that ladder, don't mind that black cat and settle in to the gateway to the weekend. I've never subscribed to superstitions and I think most of us feel the same way so happy Friday the 13th! Let's get started.

Saturday: Rain and cooler temperatures are in the forecast so I'll be inside for most of the weekend. My "not so local hobby shop" is having an open house however. He does this every year as a thank you to his customers. Hard to believe he has been in business for ten years now and he says each year his sales get better which is great to hear. I'll stop by and pick up the track I need and is in stock as well as meet up with a fellow N scaler and old friend. After visiting the shop, we'll grab lunch and I'll head back home. We're meeting because he and one other old friend are interested in exploring Free-Mo N scale.

Sunday: No rain, just cold temps and wind. I may use this day to take the Mustang up to Angela's Dad's and store it for the winter. Anything after visiting and taking care of the fine stead will likely involve track planning and research. I really hope I can find a track plan for the N scale layout as I now have most of the benchwork and shadowbox work done.

So how about you? What do you have planned for this weekend? Let us know. We'll return again on Monday the 16th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

No modeling will be done until Sunday when we get home. However Sun-tues is my weekend. My plans are to finish the wiring I started on the N scale modules. I need to add one more frog juicer on the return loop leg. Then it’s pretty much run buss wired and attach all the feeders I soldered in place last weekend. I picked up a couple of woodland scenics structures and looks like they light up. Just need to figure out how. With all the structure now in order it’s time to also develop the scenery plan.

    Happy weekend all!

Got notice early this week that a custom backdrop I ordered for the left side of Albemarle City has been shipped and I will get it today or Saturday, according to USPS tracking. I am stoked and can't wait to get it out and unroll it. So with that in mind:

    • Saturday, I plan on prepping the space where the backdrop is going. I have four 1/4" backdrop buildings that will be part of the transition. i have to prep the space behind them so after the new backdrop gets pasted on the wall, I have solid place to attach the 1/4" think backdrop buildings. Assuming there is time left on Saturday, I'll probably work on cleaning up and advancing other projects. Always something to piddle on in the train room, so I'll keep busy.
    • Sunday, assuming I have the backdrop, I'll roll it out and figure out how it is going to fit. Once that's done, I'll place it on big sheets of glass and razor out the sky and trim off an buildings to the side or whatever to custom fit the contours of Albemarle City. Then paste that puppy on.
Also, I need to start researching 9 volt power supplies and get some ordered. I got notice the first phase of my signals have been completed. That is the mast pole signals are done and ready to ship. Now the builder will start on the cantilever signals. Here is a picture of 2 of about 15 mast signals I ordered. I worked w/ the builder (Custom Signal Systems) to have them as close to the C&O transition era as reasonably possible. Installing these will be some future "weekend" project. This a feature I have always wanted on the layout.

Happy Friday the 13th and Happy weekend everyone! Today and tonight, celebrating my son's 16th birthday!

Saturday, more work planned this on the tank car / tank truck loading platform. Put up some display cases last weekend so unboxing locos to go in the cases is on the list.

Sunday, need to work on sorting items in the closet to see what I may use for layout or future plans and then pulling out anything I should get rid of. I've been doing good with that so far but a lot more of that to do and hope for some good progress on the sorting this weekend.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Break in all the motive power. Fill roadbed gaps to prevent early 80s Amtrak rail action. (There were places where you could bounce the rail with your foot.)

Re-test track alignment and glue into place. This is my first permanent layout, so gluing is a major milestone (and a little scary)

Lots of domestic stuff to do, so may not get to the gluing part this weekend.

My plans this weekend are to continue with the bridge that I started last weekend, to assemble it on a base which will be the riverbed. Also want to work with a photo backdrop I got for this area.

Saturday, we have to pick up a new kitchen table and two chairs to replace the ones we have in the nook. We got two chairs a few weeks back so this will finish the set. Guess who has to build them? Sunday, right now there are no plans I am aware of.

I would like to weather the last two Intermountain boxcars I have. This will complete all the RTR boxcars. There are a bunch of boxcar kits to be built later. With the RTR boxcars done I plan to move onto open hoppers. I have eight Atlas Trainman offset hoppers ready for weathering.

The good stuff just keeps coming! Let me see. Completed 2-6-0 boiler with all top appliances and running board sans smokebox cover. Next, cylinders, crosshead guides, cross head, side rods, drive rods, crosshead yoke, cab, boiler front cover. I hope I get this done by next Friday! Good weekend all.

Finally got around to testing the drill press I dug out of storage a while back. Seems to work just fine. Nothing special, but I have been without it for coming on 3 years so it feels like a reunion.

For the rest of the weekend:

Need to tinker with CorelDraw some more and make a decision ($) this weekend.
Assemble the two T-trak module kits lurking in the corner of my workspace. Been there too long now.

Otherwise we are continuing to work on Christmas shopping and gathering the provisions for Thanksgiving. Looking forward to both.

    Stay safe

Currently filing the flash, places where sprues and injection tabs were on the steel trestle towers. There is a lot to file, probably will take two or three hours to finish. After that will start gluing the two towers together, they will have to be cut later to the correct height when I'm ready to install them on module 08 for Boston Mountains Sub Division layout.

Working on an alternate plan for installing a card stock (laser) roof on an HOn30 box car kit, which I'd purchased a while back. The manufacturers instructions just don't quite give enough detail on getting the tiny roof walk pieces all placed as needed, to glue and keep the correct roof angles. :(
