I built a Timberline kit I had in the stash.
    The Hardware store:

An old kit with some small faults.

I had to true up the walls, as they were leaning and too wide.

The shop windows, built from wood strips and plastic castings were a challenge as the templates were wrong and the windows too wide to get a good fit....
But it turned out pretty good.
I added the awning as I didn't plan to have a lot of interior in this one.

Needs some details, then it's finished.

All is good, just back in the train room.
    ;):)
The layout is ready for more work.
I've cleared out everything non-essential from the train room, which gave me a little bit better overview of how to proceed.

I've got me some electrical work to do before I continue with the track laying.

    Here's a small update....
    I'm seriously considering changing scale.
The thing is that HOn3 seems to get in the Sn3 price bracket.... And there's nothing new on the horizon.
Sure, I have some locomotives and cars already, but then it's the whole sight thing to weigh in.
I sure don't see as good now as I did 10 years ago.
And here's the kicker; a good friend of mine is getting out of the hobby due to health reasons, and he wants me to sell off the whole collection.
He has a rather huge On30 layout and collection.
I get to keep a good amount of the locomotives and cars for myself.
    So, this is very alluring.
What to do with my layout then?
I think I'll just remove the buildings and tracks and lay On30 tracks instead.
The track plan is good, the landscape as well. I only have to raise the tunnels a bit and change some of the track plan.
So, if I'll go that route, there'll be a lot of HOn3 equipment for sale.

I decided to do 55n3 due to cost. I am building a much smaller layout because I have to scratch build or kit bash everything myself, yet I am really liking the of style modeling more. There's a lot going on with using HO gauge for other scales.

1/55 using HO scale track and trains = 3' gauge.

There's also 1/35 scale using HO scale track and trains = 2' gauge.

Even G scale which ends up being about 18" gauge.

A lot of the On30 stuff actually scales out better for these scales in some cases. I briefly thought about On30 myself, but somehow got lured into 55n3. Sadly we lost Harold, he was a big proponent of alternate scales:

I will PM you some other links.

Sad to hear your thinking of changing scales, much admire your work.

I dabbled in ON30, when prices were cheap and plentiful. There has been nothing "new" in ON30 for a while (excluding the WW1 Baldwins and associated stock which aren't as translateable). Prices have sky rocketed here and a major surplus of secondhand stock. A dealer friend of mine isn't buying ON30 collections as they cannot move them.

The HOn3 new product market has hit a brick wall as Blackstone can't get the K-28 or K-36 across the line for a competitive price. Shinohara pulling the plug has removed dual gauge turnouts readily but Peco has stepped up with some single gauge flex track and turnouts. There are quite a few "cottage industries" popping up developing HOn3 stuff especially in the 3D print world.

I'm focusing my NG efforts into HOn3 as I think it will stand the test of time as a supported scale.
