Yes. The air tanks were moved up top, to make room under-frame for a water tank.

About 45 seconds in, it looks as though you slowed down a bit? I didn't hear any radio chatter, so did you hit a heavier patch of snow?

Taken sometime in the mid-1970s at Crystal Lake, IL, C&NW GP-7 1588 and a waycar are seen. Two C&NW lines crossed here.

Nice string of ore cars on the higher line. And quite the dirty track! Not just dirt, but planks and other assorted scraps of lumber and other materials between the rails, and even a car straddling one side of the track! Someone's looking for a new car!

Great modeling ideas here, and great photos.(y)

    "The Dark Side at Kenaston"
Near a dot on the road map called Kenaston, the Northgate Local rolls at track speed past fields and hills in rural North Dakota. The rough road crosses the track ahead, and an ancient threshing machine rests in the weeds at left. The unmistakable outline of second-generation EMDs bring the train south.

What was happening? It looks as though there are people trackside, who might not just be passengers?

It was a whistle stop campaign train chartered from Santa Fe. A friend of mine's father who worked for the Santa Fe put together the train and rode it to keep and eye on things and work with the dispatchers to route it around Texas.

For some reason, when I see the air conditioners atop CSX cabs, they always have me thinking 'mushrooms'. :)
