While some CN heritage units are gently coming out of the paint shop, I'm wondering:
Which manufacturer will do them first?
    - Kato ? They aren't one the tier4 segment yet...
    - Scaletrains?
    - Intermountain ? once their first run arrives,

    Folks, what is your opinion?

I'm kind of surprised Rapido hasn't hoped on this band wagon.

Like BNSF, my first thought was Rapido since they do a lot of Canadian stuff.

I didn't realize that CN was doing a set of heritage units.

The picture above is not an official roster. That is a fan-crated image. The locomotives the schemes are on are not correct, so we cannot assume all of these will be painted like that. CN has been very hush-hush about them; some railfans have seen the first few, but there hasn't been anything officially said from the railroad. So far, there are five that have been painted:

    BC Rail (ET44AC)
    Illinois Central (ET44AC)
    Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern (ET44AC)
    Wisconsin Central (ET44AC)
    Grand Trunk (SD70M-2)

The stripe on the Wisconsin Southern unit is different than the picture, which gives it away as not being an official document. The red nose on the GT unit also wraps around the side, unlike the picture where the sides are blue.

Thanks for your comments Mr. TRAINIAC.

I had heard of different types of unit being used but had no real info.

Do you have a link to a serious source of info?

The four ET44AC's came up north through Champaign, IL (I'm a student there) a few weeks ago. They were dead in tow on a CN train. A few of my friends stayed up late to catch it in the night, but I went to bed. They were alerted by another railfan who saw the four sitting on a siding in a town further south. I do not know where they are at right now. The Grand Trunk one was not in the train, so it might have been painted by a different shop somewhere else on the railroad.

This is a video of the train, I just happened to find it on Youtube. The video description has some more information on the train and where the locomotives are going.

This picture popped up on Reddit the day the GT news broke, you can see the two GE units still in the paint shop. The Grand Trunk one was the first to be spotted since it was already in the open. They are not in the same location, the GT unit might already be in Canada in this photo. The ET44AC photos were leaked by an employee: I don't think CN gave them permission, it was supposed to be a surprise. The EJE and WS units were still unknown at the time. The logos were covered up when they were being moved, which again, shows that CN tried to maintain secrecy.

Nobody has seen any other locomotives, and of course CN will not admit they even exist, so our only information is what comes through other railfans. If more existed, they should have been on the same train with the first four GE units. Maybe there are additional EMD units in Canada, but right now it is all speculation.
