Thanks, guys. It's still early days on this one...

George, I put interiors in everything I build. Seems right. This is another Google Maps and Street View project - my third thus far. They're engaging and (for me anyway) a ton of fun.

The scratch of Villa La Paz (or according to Bing Maps the Kern County Preventorium) continues - minor stuff remains:

Here we have it with the roofs off:

Now on to the satellite buildings...

    Under construction!

First shot is the original site undisturbed:

    Trees and foliage stripped:

And with the first coat of joint compound:

Future: Bear with me, got a house to decorate also!

Very nice! Are the structures' windows hand-cut and filed? My eyes bug out at the very thought...

    Thanks, Hemi!
Sure were. And I threw away more than one side... Actually I used new chisel bits, one around a quarter inch and one a half inch. But there was plenty of knife and razor blade work as well. And as is my habit, the rear of the structures are done also rather than just having blank walls. I'm a glutton for punishment. Wish I had a serious craft cutter that could handle .030...

Some folks here on TB (rray comes to mind) have lasers that do that...

Yeah, but I like to do it myself...a bit masochistic, perhaps :)

Not quite finished but close enough to JFRTM: The Kern County Preventorium or Villa La Paz depending on your mapping service...

Most excellent Jim! It really pops with the lawn, shrubs and other scenery added around it. I am also (and as usual) impressed with how well it blends in like it has always been right there on the layout (y)(y)(y)

Now we just need to see a BNSF Z train passing behind it

Nice work! The landscaping really makes it look like is was built there, not placed there by an enormous 0-5-0... :)
