Hi All I was re-reading all my trip reports given down here travel is well and truly off the agenda. Here's a trip report on my (pre-Flex Dining) Cardinal trip which I thought could be enjoyable. What a beautiful ride - especially through New River Gorge etc! https://trainreview.com/article/exploring-the-wild-rivers-of-west-virginia-on-amtraks-cardinal I hope everyone is staying safe.
Thank you for that very detailed report. It sure brought back memories of my trip through the New River Gorge reported elsewhere on another site. We had to drive across that bridge after running under it. That is such a scenic area. And by the way, welcome to TrainBoard.
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the comments. The Cardinal is a really great trip - I hope I can get back there sometime soon!!
Memma12, may I suggest that you put a post on the New Members forum so that others will know that you are here and some comments will result.
Neat write-up on the Cardinal! Having taken a couple Amtrak trips, I should have dome something similar. On my 2004 California Zephyr trip for example, a tour guide of sorts boarded the train I think in Truckee and narrated the highlights of the places we passed all the way to Sacramento. That provided so much more background on the route than I would have known otherwise.
Thank you, everyone! It is really great when you get commentary onboard Amtrak - really brings the route to life!! I hope everyone is safe and well
