The former L&I 1610 now sports a BN inspired paint scheme as it works on the Northern Lines Railway in the vicinity of St. Cloud MN.

Experimenting with scanning my box of b&w negatives this afternoon, all taken in the mid-70s. I was just a high school kid, pretty much blasting away at anything I saw without regard to composition or lighting. Most of the negatives exhibit scratches and unyielding dust spots, but oh well. Here's some MILW, all taken in northern IL somewhere (perhaps near Bensenville?) on an overcast day.

That would explain the trainload of heavy-duty weed whacker blades.

Hauling wind turbine blades (Hehe, I saw the post about weed whacker blades after this). I wonder if the 1411 is ex Milwaukee Road.

EJ&E 924 is a Baldwin DT-6-6-2000, one of 26 purchased by the J. The flared perimeter at the base of the hoods was added to house wider EMD 567 engines, a result of a rebuilding program in the late 1950s that covered most of the fleet. [About 1975, Barrington, IL]

These two units are elevator goats at Bottineau, ND's Border Ag & Energy facility.
    Anyone know their lineage?

The ox yoke air cleaner on 702 reminds me of some of the Paducah rebuilds that Illinois Central did.

702 looks like an IC Paducah rebuild GP-10 based on the overhanging airduct. Midsouth inherited a bunch when they bought IC branches in Mississippi. We had 8-10 home based in Gulfport for many years before KCS took over.

A scan of an old color negative from the 1980s. I have no idea where I took this shot.

Spanking new EJ&E SD-38-2 666 heads Train No. 6 at Barrington, IL in the mid-70s. This manifest train covered the entire 73 Mile Western Sub from Joliet to Waukegan. At the time, the J ran four trains on this line, 5, 6, 9 and 10. It's owned by CN today.
