I used MDF board for the water base. To get a slight ripple effect, I watered down some drywall mud and dubbed it on the surface with a stiff bristle round paint brush. After it dried, I painted it a muddy brown color. To give it a wet look, I used gloss medium to the top. the barge is open on the bottom, it will be attached to a smooth part of the MDF and then painted and weathered.so the ripples will be around the barge. I’d post a picture but I worked all day and mowed this evening. It’s just after 9 PM and I too tired to climb the stairs. Picture tomorrow night I promise! D
That looks very convincing Dale, you about cant get too many layers of that gloss clear on that, If you can get to an art supply store, get some gloss gel and you can stab that stuff on your water scene to make even more ripples, or even small waves, sometimes it may take a week to dry LOL. Something a little different. Remote switching with a GoPro. Engineer in another room with a monitor, throttle and radio. Brakeman riding the train with a radio. It was a blast. Fun with model railroading!
Well it’s official, we will be part of the 2021 Tulsa Union Convention taking place in June of next year. The convention is a collaboration of the Lone Star, Mid-Continent and the Indian Nations Division of the NMRA. We will be doing open houses and Operations Sessions at the POCR. Part of the promotional process we had a photo shoot of the railroad. Here are a couple of photos from the shoot. It is nice that the photographer also added back drop scenery to the photos in some.
