it was an old track cleaning car, not sure what it was supposed to have held inside though ... all the track was NoOx Id treated a few years back, no need for cleaning cars anymore
Good eye I didn't notice it before and had to look pretty hard to find it. Cool car and it would be nice to have more detail about it if that is possible (what the tank was from or how it was made, how was the fluid controlled, weight in the front ?). Love the layout!! Sumner
the tank was -I think- plastic and used a setscrew to adjust how much fluid dripped on the pads .. I'm not sure if I still have it, but think so .. No idea who made it ... By the way, the yellow stands are made from pins and yellow cylindrical beads, that mark locations of supermagnets just under the track [level with the ties], that are used for decoupling ..
here's a close up of the super magnets, they were given a brushing with brown to help hide them, there are four to each marker ..
The Track Cleaning car is a Like Like model. It looks to be missing the cupola on the 'caboose' half though. It seems like their searchlight car model used the same car as a base, but swapped the tank for a light.
The logging cars are pretty well all Keystone, I like that they are metal... Not really on the logging scene, there is a water tanker on the track that sort of sits there on the end, otherwise [except for trees] it's pretty well done .... would rather railfan it now than work on it , lol
on the layout i went for a laydown horizontal water tank, easier to build and suited the layout ... in the image the feed line hadn't settled down yet
the small items to the right of the water tank are a steam boiler and a small water pump that draws water from the stream, and up to the water tank..
