Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. Despite fires, weather, and some physical limitations, we all got a fair amount of modeling done last week. With that said, I pray all of you that are in line with the various hurricane's and fire's are staying safe.

Saturday: As much as I loved the car business, I really like my Saturdays back. I plan to take the Mustang out and ride to my "not so local" hobby shop for track. As you know, the B&M branch I designed is not up to my current standards and so I'm pulling up the track on the two modules and starting over. This time I'm using Micro Engineering code 55 track. This will be my last ditch attempt in N scale. I'm hoping all goes well, at least to my, sometimes unrealistic goals. If after this new, simpler track plan does not work to my expectations, I guess that combined with these ageing eyes will force me to go to HO.

Sunday: A continuation of Saturday. I'm hoping to get my track plan in place, based on a real prototype and get to laying track. I also need to finish the garage so I can start working on the wood working shop so I can eventually build modules. Yup, more modules for something else I'm working on but I'll update you all on that later.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll all assemble again on Monday the 31st to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

My bad knee has been acting up the past couple of days so I will probably take this weekend off from the layout :( Maybe I'll get caught up on some reading. However, if I do decide to tackle the stairs, I have a half finished propane tanker that will be my project to finish.

Hope you all have a safe and fun weekend!

I am getting back to work on my coal dock module, having finished ballasting, now I have to drill throw slots and mount 5 tortoise machines, and frog juicers. I used Atlas Z turnouts and the frog has a terminal for power routing.

This weekend will be modeling catch as catch can. We have a large design project due out of our office Tuesday afternoon, so I will spend much of the weekend checking it over for my department's portion of the work. HOWEVER, my home office is next door to my work shop so I am sure to take a break from work and sneak in some modeling. (Or is that, take a break from modeling and sneak in a little work. I get confused when I get around my train stuff.)

    Have a great weekend all.

I haven't felt good for the past month or so, nothing major like COVID, thank God, but finally got it straightened out and I'm feeling great.
My wife has health issues that prevent her from doing alot of things so I have housework to catch up on.
I'm thinking I'll do housework for a couple hours then take a break and work on the layout for an hour or so then do housework again.
My layout is a HCD based on Model Railroader's Carolina Central published in 1996.
    1. Friday I want to get the rear main and passing glued down. Then spin the layout around and hotwire trenches for my track feeds to run through.
    2. Saturday I want to cut the foam layers that make up the rear hill side and glue them in place and get a base coat of paint on all foam surfaces.
    3. Position industrial and interchange tracks and fine tune their alignment.
    4. If I finish 1-3, start on temporary control panel.
This should all be doable while making progress on Honey Do List.

    Have a great weekend!

Our local fires are still burning but we are now not getting so much smoke. Some differed yard work will cut into my hobby time but I will find some time to put some finishing touches on the viaduct scene presented last weekend. This past week I did create a new blog post that covers the viaduct project in more detail, link below.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.

No modeling for me this weekend. We are leaving for Denton Texas from Vermont in about 6 hours. Turn and burn when we get there...gonna be a long, fast 3800 miles to make it back on Monday. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

BNSF Fan - Hope the knee improves.

    goatfarmer - Safe travels.

I have to run to Petsmart. I have to get diabetic dog food and hay packets for the fish pond. The hay packets help to keep the pond water clear as they decay and the bacteria eat the dirty stuff in the water. While I am out I need to grab a couple of more bins to store the trains. As I organize things I am running out of space in the bins I have for certain types of cars.

For the modeling part of the weekend I plan on building some more express reefers. They are an old Bev-Bel/MDC/Roundhouse set of PRR wood express reefers. There are eight in the set. I have five and have my eye on the last three on Ebay. I want to finish building the reefers I have and continue weathering the others I started. Also want to continue inventorying the trains.

Yes, I echo the stay safe and healthy remarks. As for the current project, the shifter, what is done is the cab. I worked on it off and on all day yesterday. Taking out time only to eat and nap. Fortunately the nap was short. I did not think this part would be so demanding. Now I am working on the stack, domes and the boiler jacket. I have the light done (mostly). I can hardly wait 'til I get done.

I need to visit a couple hobby shops Saturday. Then I will sit down and get to work. Finish what I started last weekend with the module and refurb a structure I picked up. I hit my not so local LHS yesterday and found a few items but I’m still in need of some rail to hand lay some track (ewww).

Yesterday I stacked foam for mountains on the north end of module 08 and will carve today.

    20200828_133052.jpg

Today I'm going to do the south end then back to the gorge to finish carving.

Sunday I plan on doing scenery on 06, 07 and 08. Cynthia made several more trees for the above modules. Still need to make more trees though, the layout will have a bunch being northwest Arkansas.

    Thank you Tom :)

I actually built my layout lower so that I use an office chair most of the time I am down there to work on or operate.

    Hope your trip went well.

Thats another reason I decided on supporting my layout on plastic shelves. I can always remove a section of uprights on each unit or trim them to custom lengths.

We made it back from Denton Texas. Approximated 3800 miles, a lot of gas, 24 cans of Mountain Dew, 4 hours of sleep and 70 1/2 hours later I am sitting back in my recliner at home...ready for a looong nap!
