This afternoon installed fascia on overhead valence for module 08 and applied Gesso. Then painted the sky on last background panel on the walls. Back to valence to paint it dark blue and installed it. Next step is to modify benchwork for module 08 and install fascia for 04 and 07. Joe
That new section of valance looks great Joe! Another milestone for the layout Looking forward to seeing how the backdrops turn out my long lost brother
Only got to work on my layout for about a hour yesterday. I did modify module 08 benchwork and cut out an area on 08 background for light switch that turns on overhead room lights, the light switch will be hidden with scenery. Next step is installing fascia on modules 04, 07 and 08. Then start stack up of insulation foam on module 08 to get it ready for the steel trestle. Joe
Today I cut and installed fascia for modules 03, 04, 07 and 08, I'm going to cut the valley wider on 08. Next step is completing fascia for modules 01 and 02, then Gesso and paint everything. Joe
After two days of measuring, cutting and sanding Masonite the fascia is installed on modules along the walls. I don't have anymore Masonite except for a few scraps, went through four sheets to do everything so far. Then two coats of Gesso and called it good for tonight. Next step is painting fascia and start foam stack up on module 08. Joe
Plan old primer will work ok if that's the way you want to go, Cynthia suggested using Gesso because it works better. She has used it since 1985. Joe
Just finished painting fascia for the modules along the walls. Now it's time to stack foam on 08. Joe
Thank you Richard and Hemi for your compliments. To start the day I installed foam for the gorge on module 08 and installed mainline and passing track on modules 01 and 03 along with three turnouts. Later this evening I'm going to shape the foam in the gorge and install track on 08. Hopefully will finish the mainline on modules 01 thru 08 tonight. Next step is to install feeder wires and foam for mountains. Joe
Joe, This is really looking good. I'm getting ready to start on a new small layout and I'm learning a lot of good things here. Thanks, Ralph
This afternoon I installed foam for bridge abutments and put a1/4 inch thick 2 foot long piece of plywood across the gorge to represent the trestle. Then I pinned the mainline in place, there's a couple of short S turns but they should be ok because of 19 inch radius. This evening will trim bridge abutments and pin track for the interchangeable coal mine and sawmill spur. It's a tight fit to get everything in place on the right end of module 08. Now have 26 of 33 feet of mainline track in place. I put my RS1 and a couple of coal hoppers on the temporary bridge just to get an idea how the scene will look. Enjoy. Joe
