These are photos are from the late Jim Hockett, I ended up with a bunch of his photos. Not sure what year, they are all between Helper and Kyune UT.

Great picture, Randy. We don't get to see the insides of 'em too often.

Doug, I caught this a couple years ago, I think you'd get a kick out of it.

Interesting story -- my college kid is taking a photography class as an elective. One of their assignments is to shoot some pictures with converging lines. The teacher is exceptional. She said, "The first thing you will think of is railroad tracks. DO NOT go near the railroad. Railroad tracks are a dangerous place to be. In fact, if anyone submits even one picture with a railroad track, you will receive no credit for the entire assignment." I applaud her foresight and care for her students.

Unlike a throng of college kids fixated on their viewfinders, those of us on this thread are deeply aware of the inherent dangers of railroad photography.

I feel one can shoot converging lines in a rail photo without being on or near the tracks.

I say this with a caveat... I have no formal education in photography! :D

    Oh yeah!

Some of the things I know what they are but some of the other things I don't know what they are. :D

I wonder if they welded a piece of steel in there to plug up the headlight opening on the 5023B/514 or just glued in a styrene disc?

    :D
