Welcome back everyone, to that gateway to the weekend. I hope you're ready to tackle projects in the shop both new and old. Let's get started.

Saturday: The plan is to finish up my new desk office / work bench area on Saturday. The simple L shape work surface is attached to the corner of the wall so I can have the work area directly under my future yard and the office area under the main line section. Since I have three brand new modules I built a few years back for another project, I've decided to go ahead with the originally planned N scale project and use the other modules for a future HO layout. I want to get the desk finished so I can get material to build the next two shadow boxes that will be the layout.

Sunday: I will probably tackle some yard work but hope to finish my garage project by placing the old RR workbench into the garage. In an ideal world, I would have the material to build my wood working all purpose work bench but that will have to be another day. I'll probably run some trains too.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll all assemble again on Monday the 24th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay healthy and safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Ready for the weekend! Going to Chattanooga Saturday to meet my brother since last weekends trip got cancelled. Hopefully I may be able to fit in a little railfanning if the weather cooperates. Sunday, I have a pair of truck kits to work on and thinking I may get to work on the grain elevator scene for the layout.

sometime between Monday and Wednesday of next week we will have two burly, upset visitors:

So I'll be spending the weekend moving stuff into the garage (Tetris experience comes in handy) and prepping the yard and house (gas in cars, water supply etc). If these tracks hold (and they often don't) we will get rain and some wind, but nothing to write home about. Of course, the first one in usually steals ocean heat and thus energy from the other. So we will see.

I was up at 4:30 this morning to prepare for a journey to the hospital. I had a colonoscopy (oh boy). The real journey was that I had nobody to drive me so hence my first experience using senior transportation. I have no one at home to keep an eye on me so as I write this I am staying in a hospitality house until the powers to be say I'm good to go. To be honest I feel just fine right now.

This weekend I've plenty of decaling to do and some kit building. Cooking for the upcoming week is also on the agenda. I still want to try a Scallop dish. There is also the usual house chores to do so as long as I can move about I'll be busy.

    Have a great weekend

My plans for the weekend are to try and get back to testing of the ESP32 CS PCB after reworking the two LM393 ICs (one to find a short causing it to heat up). And also trying to avoid the smoke coming in from multiple fires in the area, one of which burned a couple years ago and has now caused my parents to be on evac notice with a planned evac route through Yosemite since other routes are closed due to the fire. Fire details: https://www.fire.ca.gov/incidents/2020/8/20/moc-fire/

    Stay safe and good luck!

Greetings and Happy Friday. This weekend the plan is to work on my signal light system order. 6 of the signal lights will be the C&O cantilever type. I have those kits and will put be putting them together to ship off to the guy building my system. I will also have about another dozen here and there on the layout. Also this weekend I really, really need to get off my duff and get some "puff ball" trees made up as well as clean wheels on several diesels.

My plan for the next few days will be to finish an area of the layout that has had a temporary wood bridge (track on a stick) for the past 6 months. Replace it with a finished steel viaduct made from Micro Engineering bridge parts and finish the scenery under and around the viaduct.

Here is what it looks like with the temporary wood bridge. This photo was taken after in installed it in February.

Our part of California is surrounded by at least 3 major wild fires and we are getting quite a bit of the smoke. So if the air quality is bad enough I may have to take one of our air purifiers out to the train room for awhile.

Plans for the weekend are to find my way back up the rabbit hole. While waiting for some materials I decided to finally tackle the couplers on my NP Challenger. That big hole in the pilot had to go. Let you know Monday how it goes.

I am hoping to make progress on the UP tender I have been working on. Brass strips arrived so my plan is build some ladders. At the same time I will figure out where the handrails go. The two things are co-dependent when it comes to location.

    Stay safe!

Fires, hurricanes and colonoscopies Oh my! You guys know how to live it up.

Good luck to all which ever potential tragedy your in. I have a colonoscopy scheduled in about two weeks, my mom had colon cancer several years ago so my doctor thought we should check it out.

Now back to the fun stuff.

Today I'm installing fascia on modules 04, 07 and 08, then start stack up of insulation foam on 08 where there will be a two foot long tall steel trestle and the coal mine or sawmill. The mine and sawmill are interchangeable to add variety during operation, both industries will be scratch built.

Saturday I plan to install the rest of fascia on modules 01, 02 an 03. Then clean the layout room a bit and start getting the river ready for water.

Sunday's plan is to watch the Indianapolis 500 on TV, go Rossi. Also figure out the design of module 12 during the commercials. 12 will expand the locomotive service area and a staging yard that extends into the walk in closet.

    Joe

is start setting up modules 09, 10 and 11.

After a full week of unplanned delays it’s time to buckle down and get some work done on the module. I have a show/meet in a month and it needs to be finished.

Plans are to install a blue point switch machine, build a road crossing, get the last corner of the module designed for scenery and draw up The plans for the last structure. I also have some wood working that needs completion as well. Lots to do not enough time.

The Pan Pastel weathering chalks I ordered from woo woo woo woo woo woo arrived yesterday. I tried them out on a reefer and I am pleased with the results. I will be using them more this weekend. In addition I want to work on the layout remake. My track order came earlier in the week so I would like to play with that some. I plan to test run a new Western Maryland BL2 that arrived a few days ago.

Wow! All that and new pastels too! Hope all stay healthy and safe. I am working on different parts of the shifter. The lower part is done unless I forgot something (fifty percent probability). Yesterday, I started making cab parts. Since I did laundry this a.m., I think I can work intermittently on the project Saturday. An ad hoc family reunion will take place Sunday morning to midday-ish. Then, back home for more project work. (y)

I am going to post this here today because it seems that sometimes when I do, I actually accomplish the project.

I moved into my dorm yesterday, and with our COVID plan, the big in-person events have been cancelled, including Quad Day. Now it is some video conference thing with all the clubs. I am at the University of Illinois, which means I need to check out the Illini Railroad Club. They look to be a smaller group, not as big as MIT or Purdue, so my task for the weekend will be to find out more about them. While most of my personal model work may be on hold for the semester, I may still have to opportunity to run some trains.

Been watching those storms Phillip. Lets hope you don't get hit or at the least that they weaken significantly before arriving. Good luck weathering them my friend.
