Well, in the recent thread about contacting ConCor, it was suggested to create a new thread to discuss and show off ConCor items rather than taking that tread down a diverging route so here we go. Time to show off your ConCor stuff. I posted this rerailer in that other thread but here it is again. Now who remembers these? I always wanted to get more sets so I could actually expand this to a true 10 pack So there is a start. Bring it on team!
Here is one for you.............. It ran well, for a short time, but was replaced by a KATO. Do any of you remember their debacle with an announcement of an SP cabforward several years ago. I bit and paid the $50 pre-order fee and it took nearly a year to get money back when project was cancelled. Stay well, Carl
Hi Carl, It was situations like these that made some folks stand offish when it came to Con Cor. Do these qualify as Con Cor Stuff?
UP Turbine, UP U-50 and PRR FM Erie Built. The FM needed wide radius curves, else the coupler assembly would hit the side of the slot within the pilot.
This started life as a Con Cor Hudson. As usual, I can't let things be and have to modify them somehow.
Con-Cor's Kato-built Hudson with three different body shells. Just like the Kato-built PA's, the Hudsons are great runners too.
Con-Cor produced many sets over the years. Not all were packed with authenticity, but they were well done and fun to operate. Here are the Alton, Conrail Inspection and Des Moines Rocket sets.
I believe that this is the very first piece of Con Cor rolling stock that I ever owned. The printing on the sides is still kind of crude compared to later production. I have basically left it alone. Still has the Rapido couplers.
That's really nice Russell. Glad that you kept it as is. Con-Cor's line of rolling stock was extensive and enticed a lot of modelers to N Scale I think. Looking through their old catalogs still makes me smile.
ConCor foobie Santa Fe U50C. Bought this used and and she runs pretty good. The shell will sit on her fine but it won't stay snapped on. So I always have to remember to pick up by the trucks or fuel tank. Don't ask what happened toe one time I didn't.
This is all the C-C power that I have left. Both are custom paints by the late Dave Thurston. He did them in the mid-1990s, so the decals have yellowed quite a bit. The PAs are old shells but are on the last chassis that C-C had for these; with the flywheels. The FMs are on the old power chassis. They need a fifteen inch or better curve or they derail. One of these days, I will have to body mount the pilot couplers. I suspect that the reason that Spookhow rates them "F" is because the narrow pilot opening restricts the pivotting of the front truck which limits the curve radius on which you can run it as-is. I have numerous C-C freight cars, so I will not put them here. The HW passenger cars are really RR, so I leave them out of this, with the exception of the RR ATSF baggage car at the express/mail facility in the background. I did have some C-C sets, but, I sold all of them. I sold all of my C-C LWs as I do not model Hill roads or CRI&P.
Sorry guys, meant to type U50 and not U50C. My brain was not cooperating I guess. Thank you for the several nudges I got.
