The August 2020 Model Railroader carries an ad on the back of the magazine announcing DCC Econami-equipped NYC J3a Hudsons in N Scale. Road numbers 5404, 5420, 5426, and 5445. Comes with operating front coupler with optional dummy in the down position. Scheduled for Fall 2020 release. Charlie Vlk
A good prototype I think, offering a modest size suitable for use on many layouts and fine looks too. Did Bachmann choose the streamlined J3a or the normal?
Un-streamlined. Two models with the "as-delivered" Roman style lettering and two with the later Gothic style. Also, the roadnumber for the first loco is advertised as 5405, rather than 5404. MSRP is $439. Wish that Bachmann would offer versions without the DCC/sound package.
Insignia, its BestBuy's store brand, basically BestBuy's version of Kenmore, they contract out the items to the other companies
No, based on the pictures in the ad. They all appear to be Boxpok style, like the ones on this model:
That's a Korean-made O scale 2-rail brass model by Kohs & Co., from about a dozen years ago. A run of 100 pieces was made - 50 with Boxpok drivers and 50 with Scullin disc. Selling price at the time was $3,200. I'm aware of at least one of them being resold more recently for over $4K.
A question for Charlie Vlk. What do 'You' suppose the odds are for Bachmann to follow-up this version of the Hudson class with the more popular J3a streamlined version????? Inquiring steamheads just need to know!! Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
Frankly, your guess is as good as mine! Applying logic to Kato when I worked there Did not work well; I have not divined any pattern to product choices in Bachmann N Scale releases. Charlie Vlk
Thank you Charlie, More model railroading conundrums. Kato with the 4-8-4 mechanism could do a streamlined Niagara class S2 for NYC fans; though "I" would prefer some D&RGW heavy Western class... Now... Bachmann with the 4-6-4 mechanism could do a streamlined Dreyfuss J3a or even a streamlined F7 Baltic for Milw Rd fans. ConCor never followed up with Santa Fe class heavy 2-10-2 or Texas class 2-10-4. Oh well... more pipe dreams going up in smoke I guess... sigh... Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
Ahhh yes... the unstreamlined F-6 and F-6a were known as Baltics... whereas... the streamlined F-7 version were called Hudsons. Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
