Got another old scanned shot this week, something really unusual this time- a diesel shot. Sometime in the late 90s, I caught this pair of somewhat workworn GTW diesels in the hole on the west side of Emmett, MI. Both were ex-DT&I units, GP40 6400 and GP38AC 6220. The lead unit was not the only GTW power to carry the number 6400, the other having been streamlined U4b 4-8-4 6400.
"Catching Some Zees" An eastbound Z-train is backlit in this hasty grab shot, at the wrong time of day. This is a better shot in the morning.
Hemi - the shadows add drama, which is good. Overcast skies here this morning, but here they are switching away...
Just like what the Soo did for their new scheme, after their 1961 mergers. In no time that looked awful, but they stuck with it for way too long anyhow.
